    Recovered probably.

My '78 has the same wheel but the rim is thinner.

Odd since the car is advertised with only 4800 KM.

What is with these people? Why are so many people driven to change/modify these cars?

This can be an issue for tall/large people -- a smaller diameter steering wheel can help. The one in post #1 looks ~350mm diameter while the one in post #4 looks 365~370mm diameter (and note that the one in post #4 is tilted full up to give more legroom underneath -- the one in post #5 is at a much more pleasing tilt angle, but not practical for a tall/large person).

Fair enough, if that is the reason. But please save the original wheel.

Of course, but I can see an F Dealer telling a prospective BB512 buyer "no problem, we'll just change it over to a 308 steering wheel" (so even the original buyer may not get all the original parts).

Correct, it is an early 308 wheel that has been recovered.
