This might be the donor car that Manny needs - his Dino was recently crashed and the nose could be in need of many, many hours of fabrication. This might save him some time if the front clip would fit

    'good thought, Scott.
It's also nice to think that this car might be resurrected (especially if it has a legit title/history) using the rolling chasis & whatever original components come with the package. Of course, it would likely be prohibitively expensive for most mortals... but might just tickle the fancy of an individual, or group, with limitless funds.
Bottom Line: Is this one worth saving?
In a dream world: Yes. In a perfect world: Yes. In the Real World: ?

I wonder what a factory restoration would cost on this one.

Figure the pouch at around $9-12k, so for the whole package maybe $400-800k? You COULD save some money using a fiero engine / trans, but then nobody would believe it was a real Dino.

i could never imagine the cost justifying the finished product, but it is an interesting thought.

    Good day all.

This is my first post on this site and as yet, not a ferrari owner. I just completed my track car and I am now looking for a long term project. I am 42 and I am willing to resurrect this orphaned Dino over the next 15 years, but have never undertaken a project like this one. I would only attempt this project if I felt comfortable that the frame is pretty close to natural. Replacing missing pieces and removing add-on's does not scare me, but recreating whole structures is beyond my interest. And I wonder if not having the original odometer makes the car just a kit car in the end. Any advice would be much appreciated on this chassis.

    Kindest regards,

Don't do it. The cost of parts for this car is soo far out of the range of what you will expect that it will just aggravate you. If you want a car to rebuild find a neglected 308. The parts are still very expensive, but you can get many of them from some of the people that part out the much more commonly available 308. Not the case with a Dino. Just ask about the cost of any particular part, and you will understand.

Well, it SHOULD scare you. To start with, just take a look at what some of the miscellaneous items cost for a Dino: leather book pouch (minus the manuals) $2,500-3,000+; complete set of manuals $3,000-4,000+; toolkit with toolbag $3-4000+; jack $1,600 to 3,000; correct side glass for a GTS $700+ (if you can find any). Things start adding up pretty quickly.
