I don't know about the chassis, but that is a regular VW engine. Check out the single carb intake manifold. It does remind me of Ferrari restoration cars that I have received in boxes from other shops or owners garages. The first thing is to lay everything out, photograph and catalogue what you have to see what is missing. Invariably there are extra parts, often from other non-Ferrari cars.
Sounds a bit much but then it took 10 weeks for Ferrari to source CATS so... and it was at a dealership! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for taking a look at the pictures of the engine. I'm going to ask the mechanic about the sealant and the clips for the wires. I'm hoping he had not installed the clips back yet, but if they were not there where can I find replacement clips. Thanks again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Personally ai dont think its arrogance I think its more of a problem ready to. Bite. there ass and their reputation. Good mechanics take pride in their reputation and so they should. Thats why they are good. I would think it is a lot easier to miss something when you did not take it apart.
First thing they did for me at fast cars and I think all new customers is a shop tour. Good shops like all well run buisnesses take pride in showing off their work. I saw lots of equipment that was not new but it looked new.
The clips get very brittle from engine heat and break off. They are basically riveted into the holes in cam cover by having a center plastic dowel driven into the center of the clip expanding it into the hole. The only way to remove the clips is to drill them out. They also require a very large amount of force to drive the new pins in. It is very difficult to do on the car, which is why I replace them on the bench during the service. You can purchase new clips from Ricambi.

Glad to see it back. Saw your OP before you edited. Agree with the statement about negativity..... but lots of similar cases to yours have not ended well. Case in point - Megan's 348 that basically had to be rebuilt. Get that starter sorted and get out and drive her! Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Thanks, yes I was bummed when the starter went. I've already ordered one and will be installing with the help of a friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
