    They build a website for $800. I need a website really bad, the sites they build look really nice but $800 sounds like alot.

    800 for a website is cheap. Depending on what you want, of course.

    A lot of my clients spend 5-10K, so yes, in a lot of cases its cheap.

    You get what you pay for. $800 is not much for a GOOD website. For a cheap static static site with a couple pages, it's probably expensive.
