Hmmm, I had 2 F430’s for a total of 11 years and 38,000 miles- and I never saw that… there’s a high likelihood that I just never knew cos I’m not that bright but that sounds like a cool feature and wish I’d found it.

All of those dealers said they’ve never even heard of mileage blockers? SMH. Either they’re willfully ignorant or lying to you.

I invested about 3 sec in this Google search…just the tip of the iceberg no doubt.

Agreed. I spoke to the service manager in each of them and was dumbfounded they ALL claimed never to have heard of this. The only one that really spent time on the phone with me was Atlanta to research with a tech on the floor about pulling mileage off the TCU. While I didn't get the answer I was hoping for, the time he spent trying to answer my question bolster's other people's opinions on the Atlanta store, which have all been positive for service. I'll probably switch my servicing to Atlanta from my current dealer. The distance is nearly the same for me between the two stores, just just that Atlanta traffic is horrible!

  4. They are lying to you, or they are just ignorant, or both.

This is such a headache. What the heck is Kent supposed to do? Call back the dealership and say, “Hey, you guys can do this, I saw it on FChat!”?

Even though that is the truth, the Ferrari dealership has the power, and whether they do not have the knowledge or are not interested in helping him for whatever reason, the outcome is the same as far as Kent is concerned.

It sucks, because he unfortunately is going to piss off at least one Ferrari dealership to get what he wants, and the best case scenario is that it’s all for nothing. However, if he doesn’t do this, then he’s going to understandably lose sleep here and there thinking about the potential a mileage blocker was used.

I feel for you, Kent. I wish a dealership would just cut you a break and run the test. We know it can be done.

Thanks Ivan! I do as well wish they would spend the time to do it. However, at the end of the day, even if I had proof that a mileage blocker was used, I don't have recourse against the seller because the seller is just an intermediary and I know they didn't use one, it was the person or a person in the prior ownership trail that would have. Maybe I'm better off not knowing, does that make sense? Let's say I have proof it was done during some point of prior ownership. There were red flags from the PPI I ignored and accepted. The mechanic even asked me if I wanted to continue with the PPI at additional costs. He was of the opinion that I wouldn't want to after his initial findings. However, along the line, I kept thinking, do I really want to keep this converted F430. My local dealer didn't want to resell it. I didn't want to go through the bother of selling it myself. It was a mint car but I encountered some reluctance from my local dealer to even service it. Ultimately, I decided to get a stock 458 and trade it in with people that had full confidence in the conversion value so they were the only one's that would give me a good trade in price.

I guess its a wash so to speak. The car is not worth what I paid for it in my opinion, but its worth what my trade in received. Lesson learned. I need to be more patient. I truly believe if I had taken on the task of selling the F430 on BaT, I would have maximized my return and been able to buy a much better 458. Entirely my fault. The mileage may be exactly what is shown on the car, but the car may have been tracked and thus that is what I'm seeing. That is what the mechanic doing the PPI believed. I appreciate your kind words!

You definitely can check mileage driven on each gear...at least you can on Enzos, but that's a different story for another time...
