Thanks for the link. I will definitely remember the 550 smiles, the 575 seems to be showing its 'O' face (like Drew in the movie Office Space). O, O, O... BT
i don't know how no one's mentioned the wheels... The wheels alone are a dead giveaway to tell you if you're looking at a 550 or a 575 - unless, of course, someone has put 575 wheels on his/her 550 or vice versa... Look at these 550 wheels (S/N 111391)... Look at how smooth they are... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
...now look at these 575M wheels (S/N 129976)... Each spoke has a sort of bump on top of it that slims out as it extends from the center cap to rim... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now let's go back to the 550 wheels for a second... From this angle, you can see how far into the rim the spoke go... They don't meet the rim right at the outer most edge... They sort of go in to the "dish"... (S/N 121858)... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
...now go back to the 575M wheels... The spokes on the wheels smooth right out to the outer most edge of the rim... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man you guys know these cars to the NNth degree! I thought I was pretty good at the 'which things are changed in these pictures' games as a kid, but I must have lost this skill. Thanks for the info NNO. BT
Now if you're looking at modular wheels, the easiest way to tell if you're looking at a 550 or a 575M is to look at the rivets that circle the spokes... Below, you'll see the yellow car - a 550 - has seven rivets between each spoke making a total of 35 rivets on the wheel... The black car - a 575M (belonging to Mike & Chris, members here) - has only four rivets between each spoke, for a total of 20 rivets on the wheel... You'll also notice that, on 550 modular wheels, the rears sort of have a deep dish effect to them, whereas 575M modulars do not... Lastly, you'll notice a slight difference in curvature from where the spokes of the wheels go from the center caps to the rims... On the front modular wheels on a 550, it seems as though the center cap part of the wheel protrudes farthest out, where the front modulars on a 575M aren't as pronounced... The rear modulars on a 550 have a similar effect as the 550 modular fronts, but they're not as noticeable due to the deep dish... The spokes on the modular rears of a 575M seem to arch out from the center caps to the rim, making the middle of the spokes seem like they're the outer most part of the wheel... While the wheel differences are a good observation the easiest way to distinguish them is still the front facia - bumper and headlights.
