Hello, one reason that the exhaust is making less noise. I believe the exhaust is being rerouted to and through the diffuser helping with down force, every little bit works.

You obviously feel very strongly about the subject but think about this. I'll be conservative and say 75% of the posters here...real, knowledgeable, and loyal F1 fans (just like you), think these new cars suck (for various reasons). We buy the tickets and watch on TV. F1 has a real problem this year and they know it, reference Ecclestone's post Australian GP comments.

I'm sure they will get it worked out because the monetary stakes are too high for F1 to fail, or be perceived as failing. Comments here are indicative of the overall reaction to Sunday's embarrassment. Not good.

Hard to believe the garbage people pass off as facts. Bet they read it on Facebook, so now it's a fact, GP2 cars are faster than F1! smfh

That's last year's specs. This year the exhaust is single, centered on the car, and also higher so exhausts can not be routed to the diffuser. Also, the cross section on the bottom of the rear wing is gone.

Last year, the exhaust was being routed to created more downforce, yet they were not quieter.

It all comes down to exhaust setup.

For this being the "end" of F1, I sure do hear a lot of chatter from the naysayers. lol

 

Really? You know the LaFerrari is a hybrid, right? You know the new California T is a turbo engine, right? The future of Ferrari is hybrids and turbos... just like the new F1.

 

And the Porsche 918 and McLaren P1 and who knows what else.

 

Doesn't mean we have to embrace it. I drive a Prius as a DD. I like my Ferrari to be something entirely different. Same for the racing I choose to watch and support. Right now, its very hard to get past the new exhaust note, whatever it is. Certainly doesn't sound "right" for F1.

And the new NSX too, that one is twin turbo, hybrid with 3 electric motors.

 

Not so sure about the new NSX having twin turbo's - although I wish it to be the case

Apparently this is the drivetrain for the NSX. That looks to me like a snail on one of the exhaust banks, I'm sure there's another one on the other bank.
