    Thanks.
My niece visited with her incubators last week.
Assuming that it doesn't kill me it was probably worth it.

What 'electronic aids' do you want eliminated?

They've already banned ABS and traction control ('stability control' in many cases now of course).

It's already true that your average street car is way more advanced, certainly in the area of electronic aids.

Electronic diffs? Wonderful technology, and they already talked about doing that, but then they'd just bring 20 different diffs with them. Makes then faster, but I wouldn't call them an 'aid'.

    Cheers,
    Ian

That race was an absolute bore. Not much different than anything else recently.
Really not sure where F1 is going from here.
Even the most ardent fans have to admit there has never been such an outcry against this current formula. Noses, engine noise, fuel sensors, etc.
F1 has always had drama, but that is ALL that had dominated the headlines after Melbourne. No mention of 'what a spectacular race etc'....

In all seriousness, I think there is an enormous vacuum for a new racing series to fill.

Kevin I'm with you on this. Don't want to throw in the towel yet but As a fan since Lauda/Hunt battles I'm not feelin it as are apparently a number of fans. Let's see what happens as the season progresses.

A sign of the times where direct human reaction is becoming less important than prior software engineering programming maybe?

    I wouldn't mind watching a Ferrari-Apple car battling it against a Williams-Microsoft and a RedBull-Google one, one day.

    Just keep the grid-girls. ;)

Finally a good suggestion to make the Bahrain GP more interesting.

Come on, you should know what I mean. It was just a side remark. No need to jump on it and disregard the rest I said.

Sure, you may think we are complaining too much, but for now, based on the Melbourne GP, the euphoria is somewhat misplaced as well. If the Melbourne GP is anything to go by, the new rules have brought us absolutely nothing. And if F1, or any spectatorsport for that matter, doesn't offer entertainment, than it will come to an end rather quickly.

Is it not all the more reason to try and enjoy what is left of F1, < depending on your take that is, at least we are chatting/whining about it.

I have said it from the get-go it is better than nothing IMO.

Interesting statement that f1 can be compared to 'better than nothing'; but it's a fair, harsh statement

The cars don't scream anymore ergo it is the end of F1. That to me is simply ridiculous and short sighted. And the same nonsense we heard when they brought the wide front wings and tiny rear wings.

Before the Melbourne GP many folks on here as well as in the paddock predicted zero to a handful of cars making it to the finish line. In reality the majority of cars made it to the end. That alone was the best proof of unpredictability.

    The sky is falling. Nott.
I believe it when I see it, when there aren't any fans in the stands anymore (at GPs where there were fans before). Until then, we wait.

ALMS is racing in front of empty grandstands. Has been like this for years yet it is still around. Many of the European non F1 races are not even televised here, yet they are still around.

As Ron said, there is simply too much money for too many people in F1 to let it die. I'm not worried in the least. And for those who don't like it: Well, don't watch it. I don't watch any Le Mans racing because I find it boring, yet there are plenty of fans out there who do and support it.

Actually, that is exactly the same as a Prius. The electric motors save fuel AND add more performance....so it's not a point of difference.

If you think the rules in F1 make the racing contrived, you should hear the new rules for MotoGP.

At least the first Moto GP race was very exciting. All out racing from the drop of the flag and decided by less than a second in a fight between 2 of the best.

Mercedes was head and shoulder above the opposition (Alfa-Romeo, Bugatti and Auto-Union) and dominated the Grand Prix in the late 30s.

That didn't kill Grand Prix. People came just to watch the amaszng Silver Arrows demonstrating their superiority.

Actually, I totally agree. My point is others think each week has to be totally random or it's not a great race.

I disagree. Hamilton is in line to totally run away with the series this year (it's early but you have to give him the nod). That doesn't bother me. There's still a lot of interesting racing coming up. I'm rather excited to see how Ferrari battles back and the Alonso/ Kimi war.

My point is that I believe the racing everyone seems to like would be even better if they didn't have such strict fuel regs (some, just not so dominate) and the cars were more exciting to experience in person and on TV.

Those cars of the 30's.... now that was an experience!

Indeed as I watched every lap of Qatar. I will watch every lap of F1 this year as well. New rules or not I love F1. It will endure no question.
