If they didnt actally "re-dye" it and they used that crappy spray on stuff...yeah..it will flake off.

Does it feel almost rubbery? Looks to me like that coating stuff...

If so..the only solution is new leather..which is the only right way to do it anyhow.

Doug, you use your car more than most, so take that with a grain of salt. You need to get rid of thouse crapy seats anyway, and put in some like mine.

    Did you use Leatherique?

Yeah Doug that stuff never lasts long..... you should look into leatherique. I've never used their dye's, but the cleaning products are excellent.

Let me know when you wanna line up your 348 with the Merc. haha

    Doug,
We offer this as a service now. We have a great guy that re-dyes and completely refinishes seats and other leather in the car, and i can personally attest that they not only look like new, but will last a pretty long time (he did mine on my 993 cab a long time ago and they still look good).

think about it...how many cows do you see in light tan? or black, or blue, red, etc. All leather is dyed. If you use crappy products, you get a crappy result. Our guy uses the best stuff, is very reasonably priced, and stands behind his work. We use him for all our cars....

Jeremy, he did the seats in the Lotus and they look brand new..

Anyway, if you want, we can set you up with an appointment.

And btw, no, it's not typical.

    Thx.

The work done on Doug's car was done by me, and yes I used Leatherique, it is a very good product not the best but good nonetheless.

As I recall the leather on that bolster was in pretty bad shape to begin with and as thin as the leather was, truthfully I am suprised it is not in worse shape. You may want to poke your finger at the bolster to get an idea of it's rigidity and then do the same on other parts of the the leather. I am sure you will find that the bolster is very thin.

By the way how is the rest of the interior holding up??

As you all know that bolster takes more abuse than any other areas in the car and wears quicker than any others.

Bob/Doug you can do it over and i'll say in a year, if using any spray on type dye, it looks the same, unless you replace the leather.

I might also add, that I would be more than happy to redye that area again.

The rigidity is firm and consistant with that of the passenger side bolster. It is not thin and worn.

    I believe I'll be sticking with Bob @ Exclusive-motors for the re-do.
