Yes -- but I like to call these modified systems "K-Jet with quasi-Lambda". The reason that it really isn't the same as the "K-Jet with Lambda" is that:

"K-Jet with quasi-Lambda" = the (added) frequency valve alters the control pressure which moves the plunger in the fuel distributor and changes the size of slit opening (for a given airflow) to change the amount of fuel going to the injector while the pressure difference acting across the slit opening remains constant.

    whereas

"K-Jet with Lambda" = the frequency valve alters the lower chamber pressure which changes the pressure difference acting across the slit opening to change the amount of fuel going to the injector while the slit opening size stays constant (for a given airflow).

This aftermarket product claims to provide electronic control of K-Jetronic systems through a replacement WUR and programmable ECU. The system senses MAP & RPM to determine the fuel requirement.

Aahhh, I was hoping you'd chime in Steve. I think I get it, my Chas. Probst book is down in FL...I didn't read into all the details of Lambda/KE/Motronic, etc  Goin' down in a couple weeks & will brush up on it.
Does mods like this make a real difference with these V12's?

Depends what you mean by "difference". A difference in engine performance? = no. You could argue that if you are running cats, it would maybe be a little safer in terms of not allowing a rich condition to exist and overheat the cats, but the US 308i-2V ran cats and K-Jet without Lambda. And the complexity of these systems (and the usually not stellar installation workmanship) are probably just as likely to create a problem as prevent a problem ;). The upside to having it in place, is just meeting the US legal requirement so can be a plus on resale IMO. I didn't try blowing up the engine photo to have a closer look, but that installation doesn't look too bad under the hood to me-- of course, there will also be an ECU somewhere that might be a rat's nest...

I put all the "quasi-Lambda" components in a box in my attic and the car has run GREAT ever since!

After an episode with a cherry red cat I replaced the exhaust with an OEM ANSA unit and had all the "quasi-Lambda" stuff removed by Tim Stanford. It is now as it left the factory (plus an MSD Ignition Control box and minus the Dinoplex).

Did it have one ECU or two? Any chance that you could post some photos of the ECU(s)? I'm interested to see if they have any brand/part number information shown (or just to have a record of what these things look like if there's no information shown).

I noticed the CA registration so figured it was installed for emissions reasons, I didn't see the air pump though. I guess the advances in Bosch FI was purely for emissions reasons.

Good for you Al, I love hearing stories like these.

I didn't find them where I thought they were. I'm going to be out of town for a while. When I return I'll spend some more time in the attic looking for them. I thought I had some pictures I took when I found them (under the rear seats) but I haven't found the pictures either!
