I am reviewing a book on Ken Miles which i like for its pictures except when they captioned the '64 leaf sprung Cobra prototype (with three Ferrari GTO "nostrils above the grille) which ran Sebring '64 as a 427 Cobra, my alarm went off. . Even Wikipedia says was a 427.But I always heard before it was an aluminum block 390, that Ford wanted to see if a Cobra with a big block could be tamed (barely, Miles crashed it into a tree and they repaired it overnight enough for John Morton to go out but he blew the engine). I think since the bug block 427 with coil spring suspension went into production a lot of people assume this car was a 427 Cobra but it wasn't--it even had a CSX 2000 series SN. So I'm putting that mislabeling into my review.
