Is Top Gear's Stig REALLY F1 ace Michael Schumacher?

I made a thread up in the Supercar section....

My parents looked at me as if I was a nut case when I thought it was schumachers FXX, recognizing it by the black exhaust tips. I feel like such a nerd now lol.

 

No. That FXX belongs to Michael and I'm sure he just wanted to drive it himself. And the Liana lap showed it wasn't Michael after all
I'm going with the theory that the Stig is several drivers.

It was Schumi in the Liana.. He just isn't used to operating a clutch pedal

 

My theory is, is that they have Ben Collins as the stig (he was named as one of the presenters in an official H&S document). BUT, some manufacturers (ferrari, porsche) won't lent the cars out unless the timed lap is done by one of their drivers (normally Marc Gene or Luca Badoer for Ferrari).

Schumacher isn't one of the stigs, or the one and only. He quit racing so he could spent time with his family. I doubt he would fly out every week for some pesky show to drive around in a white suit.

 

I just watched it. Its clear as a sunny day that he isn't the Stig and just this weeks Special Guest.

I don't know, Michael seems to be rather bored in retirement! I'd be glad to see him driving fast cars again, even if only for Top Gear.

 

I think STIG is kinda like Lassie. There were quite a few but they all could run like the wind

There are a few Stigs on the show. In this case, MS was the STig, cos he's driving his FXX? I haven't watched this episode anyways yet.

 

I agree, there are several. It was great because I got to watch the show as I am in the UK. I just wish BBC America would be more current with the shows!!!!

IIRC if you have an FXX, you can choose to take it home OR leave it at Ferrari HQ. I think all owners decided to leave it at Ferrari.

 

It was just an excuse to get Michael on the show. I wonder how much they had to pay him to go on? And i wish he had done a real lap in the Liana.
