I am trying to figure out how to run some new wires from the engine compartment to the cabin for some gauges. I thought maybe the harness runs under the rocker board covers. Before I pull them to see, does anybody know if wiring runs this way?

I figure that I can run some wires along side the vacuum line going to the brake assist under the front bonnet. Then there is a grommet going to the console for the heater control cables I can use to get the wires to the dash.

Do you think this will work?

I saw your question the other day....

I think the OEM wiring is in the central tunnel with the water pipes and battery cable to the starter.

But, IF I were doing what you are, I'd kill two birds with one stone.

There's the two heater hoses feeding down the LEFT rocker channel box, up to the core under hood for the system. One of the hoses you'll see leaving a pipe nipple in the LH of the rear bank head.

These are no doubt original on your car as you have to drop the LH fuel tank to access replacement.

SO if you did this, you could add a multiconductor cable with outer jacket as you repulled them and get say 12 conductor #14AWG thru there.....

Just thinking out loud..it's not an easy pull for just the two hoses...but maybe that would work.

Nope, the wiring runs under the center console. There is a large pass thru grommet with a harness bundle just to the (US) driver side of the center hump under the console that will allow you to get a wire from the engine bay to the inside.

Thanks for the photo. That was just what I needed. I think I will try running through the tunnel along the battery cable to the front, then down to the dash. If that doesn't work, I will have to pull the carpet like you show in the photo.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Careful around the battery cable obviously, unfused, a short of it gets exciting!!!

(The alternator output connects to it at the starter soleniod, I shorted that wire, doing alternator work once!)
