This may be a dumb question, but I was looking at a 355 for sale the other day, and noticed that paint on the engine and valve covers were excessively/extremely worn out. Is this indicative of an specific problem? I know it happens for a variety of reason, but I've never seen an engine looking this bad. Would this be a red flag to you guys?

Not at all my friend. :):)

My car has had the engine out/major service performed every 3 yrs by the Ferrari dealer prior to me taking ownership...................and the paint on my cam covers are flaking off. They look really bad.:eek:

I just assume they never bothered to remove and repaint/power-coat them when they pulled the engine out every 3 yrs for the cam belt service. :D:D

My car has 41,000 km on the clock and runs like a dream. The paint on those covers does not affect the engine in any way. :):)

But not to worry, I will sort mine out when I pull the engine sometime in the near future. ;);)

However, I failed to mention that there was only 1850 miles on her at the time, and that she is housed in a climate controlled garage.
