On top of how cool/brave that is, it's amazing how thoroughly he knows that entire course!

Yup that's one of the things that blew me away. I have played the Nürburgring track in video games for years and it still surprises me with sneaky corners. But Isle of Man is a much longer track, much faster and by the looks of it, much tighter.

I will never stop to be amazed of these guys. No safety roll bars, wow!

It can be learned obviously, but an 'off' in many places is fatal.

I guess the last thread on it must have been in our UK Section.

Yep thats Guy Martin, and he is a traditional Yorkshire lad which is the hart of England. He is a hero over here in the UK.
He stared in the best motorcycle movie ever made last year, its all about his TT exploits. The movie is called "Closer to the edge" and it was in 3D, the dvd is out in November. Check out the Youtube clip of it.

Naw, we were just stupid. Seriously, the rush when you come down the front straight, and you hit Brae Hill, and the bike is airborne, and you've got a 3rd gear right hander at the bottom of the hill, is still something that I'll never forget, even though we were only going 145 - 150 when I ran there in the mid 80s.

Just remember, that place kills 2, 3 people every year on the track, and the drunks on Mad Sunday kill another 3 or 4 people. One year they had a pile up of bikes with at least 50 bikes down. Fortunately, nobody died, but it was a major mess. Don't recall the year, but it was in the early 80s.

    ^Thanks for the heads up!

Every time I'm traveling 100 mph and look out the side windows I think "If I screw up now, I will probably kill myself". At 120 mph it has to be a pretty clean stretch of road for me to dare to go any further up in speed! These guys just go flat out in 180+ mph... In a village... Awesome...

Even Valentino Rossi is in awe of these guys:

    (from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/8090114.stm in 2009):

Eight-times MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi took centre stage at the Isle of Man TT races on Monday.

Rossi completed a lap of the famous Mountain course with TT legend Giacomo Agostini shortly after presenting John McGuinness with his Superbike trophy.

The 30-year-old Italian said: "I have huge respect for the racers who ride this circuit flat out on a Superbike.

"It requires massive courage and incredible concentration to be successful on this course."

He added: "It is dangerous and unbelievably fast and entirely different from the kind of track I race on.

"It's a great spectacle but difficult to learn in one lap so I would like to do five or six the next time I come over, not to race though."
