I just got a game for the PS2 that is based on the real thing. I've never been to the real thing but I have seen coverage of it on TV. It looks insane. Over 200mph on city streets. Anyways I was just wondering if any of you have been to the Isle of Man TT and have any stories or even pictures of it. I promised myself that I HAVE to see this at least once before I die.

The only better way to go would be to die in the Dakar, IMO.

Hi Al ..... two days after TT2007, we set off for Le Mans .... suppose I'd best book you in for that trip too .... the girls can shop or something ?
Book Gatwick or Manchester for easier access to Gods' Island.
    cheers, d

    Oh, man!

The Isle of Man and then Lemans!!!!! THAT would be the thrill of a lifetime...

I'd better start delivering Speedy's Pizzas as soon as possible...........LOL!

That was a bad film! What caused that, a low tire or something?????
I suppose it's best the Family made me swear off scooters, after my third near fatal crash....It wasn't so much MY driving of them, as it was the trucks and cars that kept running over the top of me........

I'd be tempted to bring The Ferrari Art Car, only I doubt I'd EVER get used to driving the darn thing over there. I'd most likely cause HUGE accidents....

I'll bet they don't have "Mad Sunday" on the game :D

On the Sunday before the race begins they close the roads that comprise the circuit and allow the general public to drive round it as fast as they can

I always stay well away on that day because it's just a little bit scarey!!

Most years there's more spectators on bikes killed than actual competitors

And the locals are nutters! Every time I'm going over the mountain in the 355 I can guarantee that there'll be somebody trying to get past me in a van!

Rule number one - never try to beat a local over the mountain course!

Took these pictures of myself and F308Man at the bottom of the mountain earlier this year. Great place, can't wait to go back :)

I must have played the old Joey Dunlop "V-Four Victory" tape about 100 times, but I haven't watched it lately. I'll have to set it in front of the TV and remember to view it some evening soon.

It's no wonder people age getting killed, from your picture, it looks like they are all driving on the wrong side of the road!

I really enjoy watching the TT on speed channel even though the coverage is very limited. I can't think of a race that i would like to attend more.

From TV and the above pictues I would have to nominate the local paving crews to world champs! And the beauty of the roads going in and out of town are spectacular.

true, no limits, out of the towns and villages.
I once had the pleasure of overtaking a police bike at 147 mph on the TT course.
When i saw him two weeks later, he said "Hey Dave, your approach and line into Keppel Gate was pretty good the other week"
Where else in the world ?

I went to LM in '82 and the TT in '84 - it was so good I've lived on the memories and not wanted to go back and have it not be so good!

Cool photos - looks like the first one is the approach to Ramsey Hairpin. The others are at Hillberry, at the end of the fastest section coming back towards Douglas (not the Creg, as I first thought!)

On Mad Sunday (the one between the racing Saturday and Monday), the TT course is only one way between the Hairpin and Creg-ny-Ba, over the hills between Ramsey and Douglas. There is only one road junction on that stretch, and the police make very sure people turn the right way!

On a bike it's a bit disconcerting having to pass vans full of mechanics, fans etc enjoying the circuit - tends to compromise your lines a bit!

Round the rest of the course, and on ordinary days, there are normal 30mph limits in urban areas, and the police are strict about those and about careless driving/riding on the unrestricted bits of road (eg overtaking dangerously in your haste to get back round to the start of the one-way Mountain section again) - so be warned.

Hey Dave, Didn't know you were a Fchatter. Hope you still monitor this forum. Just saw the pic's of your old car and will print them out. Do you think you will ever get around to sending seeing that parcel of stuff to go with the car. If you do read this you will be happy to know that F308 MAN is about half way through it's body rebuild and is enjoying the warmth here in OZ. If any one else has any old pictures of her I would love to see them.
If any one is interested I am happy to put up some pic's as the rebuild is being done.
