This could be #6393. Red with Bordeaux Interior? Any registration plates? Thanks for sharing! Marcello
EM42, Dateline is approaching ? How are you feeling ? Folks, who knows which VIN is this orange Islero located in USA ? Did someone get any new clue yet about #6009 ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Olivier, Date is indeed approaching... but quality takes time!!! The overhaul of the motor has taken a little more time than expected, however, the job done by Mr. Ciclet is truly amazing. Once rebuilt it'll be a jewel! The reassembling has started but I don't want to rush so that everything is done as it should. After that, the car will be run by Mr. Ciclet who will further check it and then it'll go to Lecoq for the cosmetic job to be handled. Being realistic, I think I should get the car by the beginning of October: can't wait!!! I was pleased to be shown that my motor is a high compression version, Mr Ciclet explained me that it sometimes happened on some examples even though they were built before the launch of the "S" model. I'll keep everybody in touch with the next steps!!! By the way, I just bought a set of Marazzi floor mats that you can see on the attached picture. I once saw similar ones fitted on the Golden Islero S that is for sale at Affolter, but I can't manage to find the picture anymore. Does anybody have a picture of them sewed on the carpets of an Islero? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's an Islero S from Holland I pictured last weekend... Ciao! Marcello Image Unavailable, Please Login
An enthusiast wants to buy an Islero. No projects, running cars only, but it does not have to be a restored show queen. Please submit details to [email protected]
Hi everyone, Following last month article, there are two reader's letters that deal with the Islero in the current Classic and Sport Cars issue. Isleros seem to become hot these days! The first one is from the owner of Ferrucio's Islero, while the second one is very interesting since it seems to be related to the movie I previously mentionned in that thread. The letter comes from an irishman whose Islero was offered by his father. He came at the factory to pick up his car. 1st clue: it could be the time at which the movie was taken... Moreover, some time after this, he met Ferruccio in person and among usual compliments he complained about his two spoke steering wheel which didn't give a solid feel. To his surprise, he received some day after a package containing the famous hexagonal steering wheel which he fitted on his Islero. 2nd clue: the Islero on the movie appears to have this very special steering wheel. 3rd clue: Ireland and the movie shows an RHD country... Nice story from another era!
Hi Joe, Nice work. Have you decided yet what's color it's going to be? Dark bronze again? The interior is still tan? Ciao! Marcello
Hi Italiancars, On the pictures that you can find on the registry, your car seems not to have the front badge. Is it right? Did you find evidence of holes in the metal? To me, this would be the quintessence of the Islero spirit: anonymous, yet classy and powerful...
The nose badge was just missing when I got the car along with the rear script and the original knock off spinners.
Hi everyone, I just spotted this picture of 6612 on the ILR. It features a strange rear logo script which looks like the font that was used on the Islero S brochure. Does anybody know more about it? Best regards to all. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very sharp observation, I havn't noticed that before ;-) I also can't find another Islero that has that "Islero" script Most likely an after market home fabricated addition. Cheers, Marcello
I've just been given this superb vintage picture of an Islero that I want to share with you. It is one of the original pictures of an article by Piero Taruffi published in the March 3rd 1968 issue of "L'Automobile", an italian magazine. I guess it is 6000, since I think the seats have got headrests and the rest of the interior seems to match. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice picture EM42...here is one of my old friend's Islero : Yvan's #6027 in these early days ! I believe car is now in NL. EM42 from which country are you from ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks a lot for this nice picture. If you like at post #20 on this thread, you will see that this is indeed #6000.. Ciao! Marcello
Hi Olivier, These period pictures are fantastic. I would love to get some of 6300... PS: I live in the french speaking part of Switzerland, near Neuchâtel, where we are lucky to enjoy twisty roads and fantastic landscapes!
It is funny to see that L'Automobile and Quattroruote shared the same picture. However, on the back of my picture is a handwriting saying "L'Automobile"! There are also some markings showing that the picture has been resized for printing.
