I have a 09 california and have had nothing but problems. Just this morning the car went into limp mode flashing CSR failure and AVR failure, contact dealer. This is not the first time. Intermittently the car will rev extremely high when in park or neutral. Once you place the car into gear it revs down but when you hit the accelerator it will stick. The car is a nightmare. I am wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?

I just got my car, and now I`m nervous after hearing about your problems. How many miles or km do you have on your car? Did you have problems from day one?

It had roughly 4000kms on it as it was a dealer demonstrator. This was the only one they had with the colour combo and equipment that I was looking for. I should have purchased the 2010. The problems were immediate, most of them electrical. Needless to say it has been extremely frustrating. I had an 04 360 that was perfect and I am now kicking myself for getting rid of it.

You might have to trade it in. I only have 500km on my car so far, so I'm crossing my fingers!

As an aside, how do you like the California compared to your old 360? That is, ignoring all the quality issues you have been having with your current car.

Sorry to hear about your issues. My 06' 430 coupe was constantly in the shop. I eventually couldn't take it anymore and got rid of it.

Hopefully the shop can get your car in shape quickly. I'll bet you anything that the dealer knew this car had issue prior to selling it to you.

Let them know that this wont fly. Don't be too nice like I was. All you will get is screwed in the end.

I have a 2010 with 6,100 miles (9,800 km). It has had one trip to the dealer for a ground strap from the engine to the frame issue. Paint needed to be cleaned under the strap. The starter failed to engage three times. I am told this is a standard problem with 599's. Other than that it has been totally trouble free.

Just changed the oil on my Cali (7500 miles). Have had pretty good luck so far with no major problems other than a sticking gas flap.

Did experience one episode whe the car locked up and wouldn't move with all the warnings lights aglow. So I turned her off and then after waiting 20 second re-started and allowd the computer check countdown to complete. No problems since then.

I have a 2010 car. I think the demonstrators ran on older software. Maybe your software needs to be updated.

I have had my Cali 2010 model for 2 weeks, 750km and so far touch wood no problems. I expect to have problems though, as the more electronics these cars have the more that can go wrong.

Time will tell but its seems the 2010 models have had more of the bugs worked out!

Rule of thumb should be never buy the first year of any new model or at least wait till the later part of the year. The factory still has issues to work on. 2010 is a much better year to own with less issues.

Kevin- Since the car was sold to you as a new car, demonstrator or not, lemon laws still apply. Mention that next time and see if that does not get their attention. You can always insist on a trade for a new one is they do not get it fixed quickly.

Even on Ferraris, there are always Friday cars, like the Ape's 430.

Of course for certain models the factory only worked on Fridays.

A 4000k demonstrator? Those are 4000 of the hardest kilometers that car will ever see. Talk about Russian Roulette...

Has anyone had the A/C blow hard but find nothing coming out of the vents? Happened today in Houston, but reset after turning the car off and on again. Was v worried we'd be driving back to Austin with no a/c!

I have been having A/C blower issues too. If the car is off and I start it up when the directional knob is in the feet/dash position, it only comes out at the feet. I must rotate it to the dash only to get air coming out the dash vents. I can then rotate it back to feet/dash and it stays blowing as it ought to. In addition, the lights do not immulimate on the knobs until they are rotated after the car is off. I checked the light issue on another Cali and saw the same thing. I did not check the direction flow of the air though. It is a bit annoying. It is just another thing I must tend to when starting up in addition to pressing the tranny auto button.

I tested my ventilation system upon start up. I selected center dash vent and footwells and then started the car. Everything worked fine. Then I selected Auto and the direction knob lights went out and the air flow changed according to what the Auto thought would work best to achieve the set temp.

I don't know if this is a glitch or problem. All this seems to be controled by software so if it is a glitch it should be relatively painless for the owner to change.

Thanks for that controlled test. I'll try the same in mine. Maybe it is a "computer" thinking it knows best. I can't remember if mine was in auto or not when it happened.

Only problem so far was the air bag sensor issue. It's been fixed and hasn't returned. Interestingly, I have not seen the gas cap, a/c, or other issues noted. Mine is an early 2010 delivered October 2009.

I have the gas cap issue with my Dec 2009 delivered Cali. I just mash the button three times and it always opens by the third hit. No other issues with 8,000 miles.

I have that too, but yeah, I keep mashing on it. Not sure what the deal is...but it's a little embarrassing sometimes when everyone is leering at the car and I have to bend over to keep mashing on it...oh, wait, maybe I'm the problem?

8000 miles? Wow, you are having a blast! I only have about 1500 on my Dec 2009 delivered

Thanks, Pete. The best thing is that I can have those photos on my screen in the Cali. What a great F car! Off to the track next week to learn how to drive -- other than just
    FAST! Can't wait...
