Exactly my point - a Granturismo with 500 HP at $150,000 would positively kill the Scaglietti. But it would also kill the BMW M6, Jaguar XKR and cause serious concern to the Aston DB9 and Porsche 997TT. Basically we'd sacrifice a few hundred scagliettis per year but we would flood the market with Granturismos, if only it had the right engine.

Given how good looking and well built Maseratis of late are, it is puzzling that the company has not been allowed to pursue light weight materials and has not been given the high power engines it desperately deserves. Mr. Marchionne should seriously consider whether this strategy of continuously stifling Maserati isn't actually resulting in enormous opportunity costs for the Fiat Group corporation as a whole.

I hope the people from Ferrari/Maserati that monitor this website will pass the message on to the Commander in Chief. Mr. Marchionne is a great businessman and I'm sure he will understand what I'm talking about.

yeah doesnt the QP also clock faster on most tracks than the M5, despite being 100hp less? I've seen it somewhere.
