Most of the times I go to an auto dealership, I feel I must grab my wallet tight and keep an eye on the work order. Not this time. I dropped in at the Ferrari dealership on Baker in Costa Mesa without notice. I had heard of a recall on my beast.

Well, I was right. Randy Tippets, the service writer, told me the socket for the computer hook up needed a jumper. It may be needed when I am smogged. He told me it would not take long. Yea, right. I have heard that before.

While I was waiting, they got me water without asking and showed me the big Ferrari red tractor trailer used for the race cars. By the time that tour was over, my toy was ready.

I must say that I was very pleased at the service of Ferrari of Orange County – opps – Newport. I did not have enough time to examine all the fine cars in their showroom. Maybe I should stop again.

    :)

I have 12 cylinders and am not walking.

If you'd like to wait longer, I'm sure we can find a Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Cadillac, Volvo, or Audi for you ;).

My brother once went to pick up his Volvo C70 convertible at the scheduled time. When it wasn't ready (as he expected) and was told it might be another hour (if I remember correctly) he took two half gallons of ice cream and plopped them on the service writer's desk and said "these are for my daughter's birthday party tonight, and unless you want twenty crying five-year-olds on your shoulders for the ruined ice cream, I suggest you get the car out here."

He actually left the ice cream on the guy's counter so the guy could watch the ice cream melt.

Car was out in something like five minutes.

I don't even remember if it was my niece's birthday or not!
