Joy oh joy. The fun begins. What car is the fastest? Which driver does it the best? GO FERARI!!! 12 cylinders or walk V-8 are racing???
I was starting to go bonkers from withdrawl. Internet news updates can only sustain you for so long. I think Ferrari will be back in fine form.
Sunday, heck . . . it starts for me when my alarm goes off at 2 am on Friday so I can get on the computer for P1. Carol
Can you watch it online? I have been trying to find out about this for a while now. What are my options?
thank goodness the race starts about 8pm malaysian time. the only time the races are late is the US gp, canadian and brazilian races. about 2 am here.
We go to www.formula1.com. There is no video of the race but you do get some graphics with lap times and such. There is also a text commentary for the race itself. Not as good as watching the race but better than nothing. Ciao, John
For me it starts Saturday.... Haven't followed things in the last couple days.. Is quali still going to be run in the 5 grid position determined at a time format? Or did max change it? Should bring back some excitement to qualifying again...
They will be doing the "knock-out format." It seems like it could be interesting, but I'd wager that they are back to a more conventional format after a few races....
I haven't fully understood yet (and parts forgotten again...argh), but in essence the teams qualify in 15 minutes increments and each time the bottom 5 (?) of the grid drop out, the remaining cars go to the next 15 minutes of qualifying. So in the last 15 minutes only the last 5 (?) cars remaining duke it out for the pole. It sounds very dramatic with a lot of teams running all the time. No boring wait for the last 5 minutes and no mad dash scramble with too much traffic at the end of the hour. A fair shot for every driver (also weatherwise) and constant action on the track for the spectators. Could it be that they finally came up with something that works??? In addition to that there are some rules about refueling before parc ferme. This will allow for new strategies.
That's the way I understand quali. I forgot about the parc ferme changes. I know they can refuel after quali now, but can they refuel between each 15 min session?
I *BELIEVE* (meaning I'm really not sure on this) only the last 15 cars can refuel, but not the top 5. Or something like that. Which means slower cars can gamble in qualifying with less fuel and then legally refuel. A whole new ballgame.
here's a post from planetf1 about some significant changes for 2006: http://www.planetf1.com/News/Story_Page/0,15909,3210_3265_1043803,00.html the most significant change: the driver who'll be driving the #1 car (yes my f1 allegiance lies outside the scuderia.) -james
great link. hadn't been on planet f1 since last season. not sure of the logic that the last qual session is done with race fuel, when the first 2 rounds are on light fuel. anyone got any idea at the rationale?
So in essence it is now three sessions with 6 drivers dropping out. Probably the addition of Super Aguri changed the breakdown a bit. I'm also sure there is a loophole in this somewhere. Just like the whole world was stunned when the Minardis pulled in after their warmup lap at the first qualifying session in Melbourne.
lol...no prob dude. lucky thing tyre changes is allowed between the quali sessions and the actual race. hopefully, there'll be an awesome wet race this season. haven't seen the Rain Master in action in a while...
