Car was to be delivered at 7am. Of course I was like a kid on Christmas Eve and didn't sleep a wink. Pick up the car at 7, drove 20 min home (in the damn rain). Went to turn it back on to roll the windows up, and (for lack of better term) I put it in the wrong hole. I have no idea what this is for or its purpose. It doesn't look like it's going to be terribly expensive and has 4 little prongs that should just pop back in. Can someone tell me what this is? What part I need to look for to replace? Feel free to call me a dumbass... won't hurt my feeling I'm used to it by now. View attachment 1684568
Temp sensor grille. If you're going to break something, might as well make it cheap. Congrats on the car, maybe check it out once mines running again. https://www.ricambiamerica.com/63994500-grill.html
Sometimes when you put things in the wrong hole it's truly magical. Other times you run into unexpected things and feel dirty afterwards. It happens to the best of us. Sent from my toilet using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I'm pretty good about keeping my nice things nice... honest mistake and a bit sleep deprivation. Notice I'm already trying to replace it
Wow!!! I didn't know there was a sub $10 ferrari part!!!! Thanks for the info. Please reach out when you're up and running
Don't feel too bad ... we all make silly mistakes. A few days after I got my 328GTS, I decided to clean the windscreen glass on the inside. I got hamfisted in the center of the dash, and cracked and broke one of the three plastic louvers for the A/C.... it dropped down the pipe into the air box deep behind the dash. I used a borescope with light and could see it there sitting, for the rest of time, with no way of getting out... never mind no way to fix it because it's just cheap brittle plastic and it's done. At least it was in a spot that would never cause harm. I made a "plug" out of black cardboard painted with satin black and it looked so close to the original that most people would never notice. It took me THREE YEARS to find one - from a seller in Germany - and it was $375 plus shipping - for a one ounce piece of cheap plastic but finally, it was fixed! Needless to say, I never made that mistake again Jedi
My first week with my 430, my wife and I went out for a drive. When I put the key in the ignition, turned the key and nothing happened I could feel my wife glaring at me. “How much is that gonna cost?” Umm yea, gotta push the start button. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The first day with my 360, I stopped at a gas station, shut the car off, pressed the button to open the gas filler door and, nothing. I was stranded. After a few phone calls, I discovered that the button will only work if the key is in the ignition.
Y’all are beginners. I came about 6 inches away from crashing my car into the side of my garage The minute I got it off the truck because I didn’t realize how close together the clutch and brake were.
First time I drove it I forgot to unplug the battery tender which ripped off the wall and landed on the fender [emoji28] Sent from my toilet using FerrariChat.com mobile app
My 360 was delivered to me with the that little part broken. Somebody had already made the "key in the wrong hole" mistake. I've been told it's pretty common (and it usually happens when someone who has been drinking should be driving!)
Better than someone else doing it then denying it. Had both my PPI mechanic and the local Ferrari dealer break something and then vehemently deny it saying it was like that when it got there.
I tore the right mirror off early this summer while backing out of the garage. Caught it on the Tesla charger cord while it was plugged into the car because I was too fixated on the not hitting stuff on the driver's side of the garage. You may call me a dumbass as well
I did the same when I picked up my car for the first time after getting new tires put on. Just completely forgot about the start button. Was about to go yell at the mechanic for ruining the car until I remembered the start button...
Thanks for making me feel better about it... have yall seen the video of the guy crash his Senna the 1st day he got it? Burnout in a hypercar is never a good idea I suppose
Oh my goodness I did the same thing. It was early in the morning. I crawled into my car (which was parked in the garage) for some reason, still half asleep, and fired it up. I did not have my foot on the clutch and it was in first gear. I hadn't owned the car for long and never dreamed that it would actually start up and launch itself toward the common wall between my garage and my family room. I smashed my feet against both the clutch pedal and the brake pedal and saved the car (and my house) by inches. I can guarantee you I was wide awake after that.
On my first day of Ferrari ownership, I underestimated how low the nose was and started to graze the front lip on a big rock in the garden. In panic, I selected a forward gear instead of reverse, well and truly cracking the front lip. U$1,200 paint job/repair later....
Usually there is a lot of tactile feedback and unambiguous accoustic warning signals when trying to put it in the wrong hole. It's impressive that you managed to get it in there nonetheless, particularly since we are talking about a roughly 20 year old, that you knew for less than an hour at that point in time.
Haha, after driving Vettes and muscle cars for years, the pedals in the 360 seem to be off to the right a bit and close together, the truck was late and I was in a hurry to get to work so I was rushing to get it in the garage and get on the road. Great first day with a Ferrari, huh? Almost my last day. Bwahahaha!!!!
