Just remember, MvT, that you are living the dream for most of us. Driving a Ferrari in beautiful mountain and lake settings? Check. Driving in the most beautiful parts of Italy? Check. Combining the two? On my Bucket List.

I am counting my blessings David :) We are well aware that's why we offered to share this dream. I believe we even have a seat left in our September trip!

My guess is that it will not stay with one turn ;)

    ------------------

The next day we explored the way to Villa d'Este and see if we can reserve some parking places the next day when we will visit the Concorso D'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

Our group exists of 7 Ferrari's and one Mini Cooper. We left the Mini at home since it is a challenge to stick together as a group while we sometime literally maneuver through the busy traffic. What I did notice since we all carried numbers on our cars and name tags with flags that often traffic gave us priority while we in fact didn't have it.

During our drive we bumped into other Dutch Fchat members from the opposite direction and the usual meet and greet happened. We moved on and once parked we explored the little city and wondered around on the local market. Guess what I found :)

I always wonder what is behind such gates. A nice garden or a place that is taken over by nature and somewhere a lost Ferrari hidden from the public..?

In the afternoon we went to our cars which we parked at a parking deck where we already had difficulty in finding enough spots to park our cars and some of us were standing where we were not allowed nose to nose. Often driving a Ferrari you get a free ticket to do things you normally would get a ticket for in this case we took our chance again.

We found a restaurant with a parking place and asked the owner if we could park the next day and as return we will eat hear now and tomorrow. Once we said Ferraris it was immediately ok. It attracts a lot of people when a hoard of Ferraris are parked so the change is quite big that they eat where they can look at it.

I saw something on the menu I definitely wanted to try :):)

I bet the Pizzas will still be there among other great food! I hope the weather too! ;)

    ----------------------
Next day we went to Concorso Elegance Villa d'Est. We parked our Ferraris at the agreed parking place and did the rest on foot.

Very nice examples of voitures. A big variety of (lost) brands, but I counted only 3 Ferraris.

It was nice to see one. I l really like the , but honestly this Countach was in bad condition. It was rusted on all sides as big as your hands. If it would still have the first paint layer I think I still could live with it since it than would be patina and tells its live story, but it hasn't. IMHO this one was definitely concorso worthy, but hey I saw one! The lines are great and the spoiler enormous!

Ah yes the aluminium Countach corrosion..... they mostly go in the arches, still it's a very cool variant of a Bertone house classic :)

Since this consorco was organized by BMW it was scattered all over the place with BWM stuff. Mini Coopers, bikes, airplanes, cars, racers and concepts. The last category was very interesting. Inside they had old and new concepts next to eachother. Some take into product like the M1. My favorite was the 328 hommage old and new style. (First 5 pics) The leather straps are a very nice detail. It's very tricky to use old concepts on current models, but I like it!!!

    BMW 328.
The BMW 328 was one of the most successful and as far as many people were concerned one of the most beautifull sports cars of the late 1930s. On the automobile's first offficial outing in 1936, this car drve the class victory at the Eifel Race held on the Nurnburgring, and impressively demonstrated how consistently its developers had implemented their ideas on dynamic performance, easthetic style and innovation. They had designed an overall package comprising systematic, lightweight construction, ideal weight distributions, low drag, a powerful engine and a carefully tuned chassis, allowing the BMW to impress on the road as well.

    BMW 328 Hommage.
On the 75th anniversary of the BMW 328, the MW Design Team celebrated the occassion by giving the roadster the accolade of a Hommage Car. The vehicle was presented for the first time at the Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Est in 2011 and it transfers the attributes and functional easthetics of the BMW 328 to a modern sports-car concept. The BMW 328 Hommage links up with the principles of its legendary antecedent and incorporates characteristic detail of the design, such as the upright BMW Kidney-shaped grille, the split front windscreen, the leather bonnet straps, the raised tank inlet and the cockpit designed in a purist style.
