Next weekend!!! How does the head count look guys??????????????
oh we are sponsoring a Texas Driver Award for cars that are driven to the event (or tracked at it) keep an eye out for us
From Dallas the quickest is 45 to Madisonville. From mid-cities and FW 35 to 6 is about 10-15 miles shorter. Southlake to the track for me is 195 miles or so and about 3 hours pulling the race car. One stop.
The official IAFS registration at the moment is 18 Panteras, 2 Lamborghinins, 8 Ferraris, 2 Fiats, and 2 Ducati motorcycles. We're expecting at least 2 more Panteras, 5 or 6 Lambos, and one more Ducati. The Houston Ferrari club president thinks there could be a lot of last minute Ferraris show up from Houston. If the weather is nice (which weather.com currently lists it as no rain) we could easily get flooded with last minute drive-ups. 17 cars are currently registered for the track but I'm pretty sure that there will be at least 2-3 more Panteras. The idea of this event is to pump it up to the involvment that the Pocono event is. It took time for them too (especially once they opened it up to other Italian marques), but it's going to take participation, and continued at that. So look at it that way, because it is--there is NO other event like this for hundreds, if not at least a thousand miles, and it's right here guys, and pretty cheap at that. If you've never experienced high performance exotic cars ripping around the track, you should at least come SEE it (that is free!). First time I went to this event (when it was mostly Pantera driven), I was blown away, and it's what set me even more on the path to get a Pantera. I'm not tracking myself, but that car cruise run is going to rock! Still not too late to register!
I just looked it up (been a while), yeah, that's the way I was I went last time (Madisonville/Bryan). Get your butt down there Rob, and drag Tillman, Greg, Ron, Jerry, and the rest with you!
Well, 160mph is stock for a 1971 Pantera, and all Panteras are all stock, and of course, 160 is above the legal limit, which no one breaks of course. Hehe. Seriously though, I think we want everyone to have a good time, and not worry about trying to run like a bat out of hell to keep up with everyone.
We had our final organizer's meeting last night, and we're all moving "FULL-SPEED AHEAD" / a lot of thought from several clubs has gone into this event, and it will be a lot of fun for everyone Re. the Country-road drive... if Rob liked the last one, he'll LOVE the one we have planned this time. Still, I also must stress that this WILL NOT be a "fast drive" Still, Sunday is the day to be there! We will have at least 2 Lambo's on the track, plus several Ferrari and Pantera's (what's the deal with all the Maserati owners???). Track-day is a "DRIVER'S SCHOOL" / depending on your experience, you'll be placed in groups of same-level expertise, in order to minimize any possible problems. Note: 8AM-SHARP meeting at TWS is required for everyone participating in the SUNDAY event. To summarise / especially for any LAST-MINUTE attendees: ENTRANCE IS FREE for the CAR-SHOW (9am-1pm) COUNTRY DRIVE & WINERY TOUR (1pm-5:30pm) is $30 AWARDS DINNER at CENARE's is at 7pm - $30/adult, $10/child SUNDAY TRACK-DAY is only $130 (can't beat it!!!) Although several types of awards will be given out, these will include: 1. Texas Driver's Magazine "DRIVER'S AWARD" 2. People's choice award (for each of the 4 clubs) 3. Best engine 4. Best sound 5. Best paint 6. Best interior 7. Best P-car and several more... If you have any specific questions, please email me or see http://www.spacecitypanteras.com/IAFS/IAFS-2004/IAFS-2004-Announcement.htm
LAMBORGHINI DALLAS confirmed with me today that they will be be bringing a GALLARDO at the event, for the car show, country drive on Saturday, and the track day on Sunday. Great opportunity for interested parties to get a ride and possibly drive this fine automobile. I drove a black one a couple of months ago at their dealership, and I was very impressed.
I'm going to try and make it out there to spectate on saturday morning. Maybe I'll meet a couple of you guys.
I'll be going down there Saturday & looking forward to the track event on Sunday. It will be great to see some of my Houston friends. If anyone else from the DFW area is going there & wants to convoy, PM me.
This is why I don't like two or more threads on the same topic, then you feel like you need to post to both of them. With 5,000 users that's a battle I'll never win though.
I was going to try to make it tomorrow AM, but ex wife's dad in for major surgery today. BBQ Cook off Friday night. Yeee Haa. If his heart starts back up and I don't get the kids, might still make it! Keep your fingers crossed. He's a good guy. If MY heart starts up the morning! Jim Beam tent!
Damn, I can't make it. Too many things to do during a short weekend. I'll try to great back down there next time. Take plenty of pics. Speedy, Thats some party girl. Where's the Lonestar? LOL!

Great, great, weekend. I'm sunburned, tired, and will sleep good tonight, but all worth it! I'll post some pics later, but I just discovered I had my damn camera in macro mode the whole weekend, so all my pictures look slightly out of focus. Really ticked off about that. Many stories to tell, including I and a few others getting pulled over by the cops. I got a ticket, but not for speed (thankfully), but for no insurance! Don't know why I don't have it in the car. Looking forward to next year already!
Great weekend. Anyone know who won the car show?? Good luck to the guy who wrecked his Pantera. Beautiful car. What a shame. Here are some pics.
At least Dale would not have been pulled over for no front license plate. He is a responsible driver. The rest of you need to put that front plate on the bumper. Don't forget 15 April 04. Dale will not.
I love you all. Problems with Luigi's clutch ? I better not e-mail him tomorrow. Does he need to cool off ?
