Subject: Weather up-date for this Sunday's "Rattlesnake Run"

    Hi everyone,

At this point the extended weather forecast is calling for an 80% chance of rain on Sunday, zero sunshine and a high of 14 degrees, feeling like 12 degrees....so it's not looking good.

I will continue to monitor the forecast...because they (the weather people) have gotten it wrong before....hopefully they're wrong this time as well.

I will make a judgment call on Saturday, if it's still on or not...so keep an eye out for my e-mail. Check before heading out.

However, despite this foreboding weather forecast, KEEP SENDING ME YOUR RSVPs, BECAUSE IF IT'S A GO, I NEED TO LET THE RESTAURANT KNOW HOW MANY THERE WILL BE FOR THE PATIO LUNCHEON.

The cut off for RSVPs is Saturday morning June 26th/2015 at 10:00am. If you just show up, I can't guarantee there will be enough food!!

If it is canceled, due to the weather, the alternate rain day is targeted to be Sunday July 26th/2015.

I'll keep you posted. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

    Regards,

    Lou

Tomorrow's "Rattlesnake Run" CANCELED due to the rains!

    Hi everyone,

We've decided to cancel tomorrow's 'Rattlesnake Run' due to the rains. They have started in my area and in all the areas involving tomorrow's drive. According to the weather reports, these rains will carry-on all day today and right into tomorrow...with 80% to 90% chance of rain reporting in all the areas we would be driving. Not only that, they're reporting winds and it will be cold...in the low teens 13-14 degrees C ...feeling like 11C. That's a little chilly for many of us looking to go "topless"

Save the new Date! ....The alternate 'Rain Date' is scheduled for Sunday July 26th/2015.

This date fits in nicely, right in between the Drive, BBQ & Car Show @ Sun Collision on July 12th and Italian Car Day on August 8th/2015.

Fueled by the passion for Italian automobiles, Italian Car Day was born ….Our mission is to provide a Relaxed and Casual environment for Italian Car and Motorcycle enthusiasts to exhibit their Belle Macchine ......while raising awareness for the benefit of Safehaven.
Today, Italian Car Day (ICD) is considered the largest gathering of Italian cars in Canada.
Now in its 5th year, ICD's success is due to the impressive roster of Italian exotic and classic machines wrapped in the hospitality and charisma of the Italian Culture.
Nestled in the heart of Vaughan, the city is home to the largest Ital-Canadian community who passionately showcase at "Boyd Conservation Area" their Fiats, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos and more.
While we enjoy showing off our beauties, the real purpose of our events raising awareness for a great Charity – Safehaven Project for Community Living, whereby all proceeds from the event are donated. Safehaven
Italian Car Day is proud to have raised over $150,000.00 over the last 4 events.
We thank all our sponsors and Partners who continue to support ICD every year......for more information on all the activities, rallies and pre-event activities sign-up on our NEW interactive web site at Italian Car Day (Toronto) (Woodbridge, ON) - Meetup

On July 15, 2015, Italian Car Day director help raise money for breast cancer survivors.
ICD participated in a photo shoot at the famous Casa Loma located in the heart of Toronto.
Breast cancer survivors were recognised and were given the opportunity to be professionally photographed at Casa Loma with Vintage Italian cars.
As stunning as the props were, their spirits outshine all of the gowns, the castle and the cars, it was truly beautiful.
Photos will be placed in a calendar and sold to raise money for after breast cancer care.

Italian Car Day will have some spectacular cars on display

One of them will be a 1956 Maserati 200SI Chassis 2401

Chassis 2401 occupies a place of distinction in the evolution of Maserati sports racing cars, as it was the first 200S chassis produced, the works development car for the series and a member of the factory racing team. As the first of the line, the Maserati factory was entirely responsible for its construction, making this car a rarity amongst the various 200S models. Chassis 2401 was so far ahead of regular 200S production, that upon its debut in May 1955, it wore coachwork unmistakable from the preceding 150S.

Beneath the skin, however, it was clear that much had changed. Maserati finally issued the Foglio di Montaggio for 2401 on April 26, 1956, only three days before the Mille Miglia. 2401 proved luckless, eventually succumbing to brake troubles caused by a downpour. In the following month Maserati made the most radical changes yet to their factory development car. Chassis 2401 received the sleek and beautiful long-nose bodywork that immediately differentiated it from its early configuration, and it was left unpainted.

In May 1956, Cesare Perdisa tested the new and improved 2401 at Monza, ushering in a new era of racing success for Maserati’s 200S. Famed French Maserati team driver Jean Behra was enlisted to pilot the 200S at the Grand Prix di Bari on the Adriatic coast. His talent helped him to capture an overall victory and record the fastest lap of the race.

After Bari, the 200S made a journey into Germany to compete on the legendary Nürburgring – to many, the supreme test of a sports car. On August 1, Stirling Moss piloted the bare aluminum 200S, fitted with a 1.5-liter engine, to a 2nd place finish behind Herrmann’s 550A in the Rheinland Cup sports car race. During the battle for first, Moss managed to establish the fastest lap of the race at 10 minutes, 13.3 seconds, and in so doing, proved that the 200S was a match for the best that Germany had to offer.

The next month, 2401 was again returned to Modena, completing the final stage of its progress towards becoming a 200SI. SI stood for Sport Internazionale in recognition of its compliance with the new FIA mandates.

Chassis 2401 immediately became the subject of Maserati literature, including the factory’s sales brochure and specification sheets. Shortly after the Grand Prix of Caracas in Venezuela, the Maserati factory sold 2401, by then fully developed and race-proven, to Venezuelan privateer Ettore Chimeri. The car spent time with several owners until 1979, when it was sold to Nobuo Harada of Japan and displayed as a prized trophy for some 22 years in the Kawaguchiko Motor Museum.

WOW what can I say but thank you to all the participants and guests that attended this year’s Italian Car Day.
The weather was a little questionable in the morning with rain in Oakville and Mississauga but it stayed dry at Boyed Park.
We had just under 140 cars with 30 pre-registered cars not attending due to rain in their area.
The sun come out at noon and the party was in high gear with Italian music food and some spectacular cars.

Fiat and Alfa Romeo clubs from Montrell and Ottawa made the journey to join in on the party.
ICD hosted an after party for 60 of our out of town guests.

The Fiat 500 raffle tickets are still available, the car will be given away at the Safehaven Gala on November 6.
