Registrations are coming in fast and furious now. As of today we are nearing 100 pre-registered. This is fantastic, because in years past at this time we usually have about 70. We always get another 15-20 faxes in the last week, along with 15-20 mail in registrations. And then the usual 20+ "Day of Event" registrants.

One cool car that just registered today is a special 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO that set a land speed record at Bonneville of 292+ MPH. :)

Weather is looking great for next weekend! No rain in sight on either Saturday or Sunday, and temps 75+ :)

If you haven't registered yet, please take a few moments to fill out the form and fax it in. Lets make this year the biggest and best Italian Concours yet!

For some reason, Alfa Romeo has a very low registration at this time. If you know folks with Alfa's, see if you can get them to come out.

    Hey Mike,
It looks like its just you and me. Where is everyone?
Just my 2 cents, but I think would be nice if your web site could list the cars with photos, that have confirmed attendance. I think this would provide some motivation for those on the fence.
Also I am interested in knowing if you are planning a preservation Class?
As you can see my car was selected by Maserati North America for the launch of the new Quattroporte at Pebble Beach in 2003. It is totally original down to the very thin paint after all those years of buffing. A real survivor.
I'm looking forward to the show, but not the location on the concrete (take a lesson from the Marina airport show) bring back the lawn. Think Green.

On another subject, I am always amazed at the lack of enthusiasm on the part of vintage (pre 1981) Maserati owners. Why do they own the cars if they are not willing to drive them at least a couple days a year....
    Ciao,

    Hi Frank!

I'm looking forward to seeing your Quattroporte for sure!!!! When I saw your application, I was doing backflips! ;-)

Yes, we are having the Griot's Garage "Preservation" Cup again this year. We've also broke Maserati into (2) Classes: "Classic" and "Contemporary".

It is so tough to get the Maserati's to come out. I don't get it. I spent an hour with Tino last week and we were talking about that very issue. In all of his years (and I'm sure you've seen the same thing), he see's about 1 Maserati at an event for every 4-5 Ferrari's.

Mary and I were up until 10:00 last night printing up the marque cards, etc... I think we have only 9 Maserati's right now. 4 Classic (your Quattroporte, Ghibli, Sebring Series 1, and a 3500 GT). The rest are Gran Sports, Spyders and GT Coupes). I'm trying to get a new model Quattroporte and a Gran Turismo to come too.

    See you next week!

    Mike

With us the opposite is true, while we'd like to see more vintage Maserati owners come out, the question is why aren't the current era owners turning out in numbers?
At any given event, the majority of Ferraris and Lamborghinis are the latest examples of the marque. Not so with Maseratis, only about 25% are current era Maseratis. We get very few Biturbos anymore, the rest is made up of GT and Historic Racing Cars.

Here are a few photos from previous years.

    Hi Joe:

Yep, we have a tough time getting the new ones out too. As of today, we don't even have a new model Quattroporte, nor a Gran Turismo registered!

When I asked one guy years ago "Why don't you bring your car out more, so the public can see it?" His reply was pretty typical: "Mike, I can't see any good reason to spend $35.00 to park my car". I tried to tell him that sometimes its not about the money. Its about getting the cars out so the public can see them, talk with other owners and build friendships. This on top of the fact that you get a goodie bag with almost $100.00 worth of merchandise in it.

Oh well, I just know that all of us that take the time to show up, have a GREAT and ENJOYABLE time!

I guess some people are just not "Car Crazy" like us! ;-)

    Mike
