    I'm looking for an Italian wine, under $50 to go with a pasta dish for my girlfriend this weekend. Any recommendations?

    Barolo

    Brunello di Montelcino

    possibly Montepulciano, but ask the wine store for specific recommendations

    A Ferrari fan - then go for Sangiovese from the Umbria region in Italy. We got hooked on it in Maranello and have had it on several occasions at Montana for dinner. It's not very pricey and it's my favorite red Italian. Obviously goes great with Italian dishes.

    Definately should go with a Chianti Classico. Get a Riserva if avialable and if you or the wine shop is not familar with Chianti's stick with Antinori, hard to go wrong.

    Try to look for flacianello.

    It's really good. Got very high marks (WS or Parker, can't tell), and it really tastes. On top of that, you'll look like an expert.

    Ask her to wait two years until the Napa Valley 2005 vintages will start coming available. These wines should be the best ever....Screw Italy! :)

    Agree 100%. Try to get Viticcio Chianti Classico Riserva-always solid wines.

    Although not a Chianti, Terrabianca Campaccio is very good also.

    Another excellent choice. Can't believe I forgot that one since I have a few bottles...Got it on sale a while back for $14.99/bottle.

    This is a great Chianti...Tenute Antonori Marchese

    Don't get the Antonori...it's teh lesser grade..get the "Marchese"
