Yeah... there's this year too. Hey; do what I do when it gets hot. Drive around in a pair of Speedos, gold chain, and a grin. Bet it will take a quart or two to get that image out of your mind.
Hello to all, You can still register and be in the show - we will accept registration through tomorrow night. Pls go to www.italiancarfest.org, click on Entrant Information on the upper left and scroll down to the registration link - it's that easy. I hope a couple of late comers will sign up today! See you all on Saturday in Grapevine.
GHHAAAAKKKKK!!!! Just when I almost had that image scrubbed from my mind from that Cars & Cough-Please event you dragged me to last Halloween. It really didn't occur to me why the e-vite you forwarded said "No Boxers, please" until I saw you step out of yours wearing the Speedo. The boots were a different touch, I gotta admit. Come to think of it, I still haven't figured out why such an event was held at 10 at night, just off of Oak Lawn....and even though he had a stethescope, I'm not totally convinced that Dr. Hand was a real Doc. His nice nurse, Kendra, I think it was, assured me that he was.....HEEYYY - Kendra had an Adam's apple!!! It's all coming back now....... Just when I thought I had left that trauma behind..... At least I knew that I didn't have a hernia. -------------------------------------------------------- Images of the Flying Vehicles displays at the Goodwood Festival just came to mind. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sumthin' tells me that just watching the valet sevice in action might be worth the price of admission. ------------------------------------ Well, if you're gonna be that way.......... Thanks for letting us know - Time to recheck the weather forecast for Sat.
ItalianCarFest is rain or shine. Remember, the weather forecast for this past weekend in Dallas was rain for two days - and - nothing happened! See you all on Saturday in Grapevine.
Bummer - NOT what I wanted to see: Thunderstorms 40% Thunderstorms 50% Thunderstorms 40% ....depending on the source. In the Land of OMIGAWDIT'SNOTDRY!!! Driving idiocy, I'm certainly not taking the Boxer out into the throngs with any chance of encountering the same panicky drivers who hit the brakes on iced bridges. The barely-in-control swerving idiots trying to either get a better look, race, or simply block "ta show thet dude in the Ferrari thet Ah kin pwn him" are bad enough in the dry. I'm going to have to pass on this chance to represent the non-red Italians. I'll try to make it out as a spectator in some form, maybe even in the Boxer IF the skies part.
Oh come on, this is north Texas. What's the chance of a massive rainstorm during a car show? (never tell me the odds) It will most likely just miss us & head to Austin or Oklahoma, even if it does these cars are not made of sugar.
Rain - no biggie. Did that Sunday night up near where the ICF will be, in light traffic. Was fine until the flurry of brake lights and swerving to avoid getting the trucks, cars, and minivans wet (apparently, those DO melt like sugar). Me, in the Boxer, and a lone motorcyclist, against sudden OMIGAWDIT'SNOTDRY!!! Syndrome in a herd.......we both hit the first chance at the access road and kept going. 4-wheelin' in a muddy, but otherwise manicured, field with 5" of ground clearance - not wild about it, but survivable. The hose and a little elbow grease haven't melted her yet. Driving in the middle of a bunch of gits who scare the crap out of me in my DD with their displays of obliviousness, impulsiveness, and ineptitude, in a still-original-paint&body relic............No thanks. If the forecast changes in the right direction, the Boxer may make it to the "Exotic Parking" area. Or, if there is a fortuitous "Bubba Rapture" that clears the roads of the derby entrants, I'll run her out in the rain.
I'm with Kurt. These aren't some mass-market German cars. Even on the 328, there are parts that are quite literally unobtainable. I can only imagine the situation is worse for the Boxers. If it's raining, I'm a spectator.
Hello to all, I don't trust my weatherman (woman). We were told it was going to rain last weekend in Dallas and - nothing!! The ICF mantra from now through Sat is "We're hoping for a cold spell and no rain". Thanks for your continued support!! Bob Dezzany ICF Chairman
I ran through some of that "nothing" last Sunday evening........ If there were a "Provisional Registration" conditioned upon the weather, I'd make sure the Boxer was gassed & oiled, cleaning towels in the front, and hope to wake up to wake up to clear, blue skies, with a reserved spot on the show grounds awaiting my hurried arrival. As Brangeta noted - there's still a 60% chance that it might make it to the Exotic Parking area.....haven't rechecked the weather yet though. If David will show in just his Speedo, gold chains, and boots again..........
40% today/nite, 40% tomorrow day/nite: http://weather.msn.com/local.aspx?wealocations=wc:USTX1060&q=Plano%2c+TX#details so.......if it doesn't rain today/nite, tomorrow day/nite....then odds are will not Saturday--or is that saying it probably will??? anyway, it's a bit far from Plano to get caught...never tried the wipers in the 330 or Boxer...don't imagine we'd get turned away if we showed up?
let's move the 40 to 100...dark as He*l in Frisco/Plano and 25 mph winds at least..thunder all around......
A little bit of rain could be nice. I'll probably show up early (as a spectator) to beat the heat and crazy people in case it IS raining. Weather.com says 60% chance for Saturday.
