No, no social unrest that I am aware of? Except for some gatherings after the atrocious murder of a teacher last week. But socially, the country is calm, at least for the time being. As said by yourself above, the reluctance for public gatherings, and now the curfew on the biggest part of the country, plus the absence of tourists are hurting the economy a lot. It is difficult to say how bad this second wave is, but bad it is, there can be no doubt. There were 42.000 new infections on Friday alone; even if there are more tests indeed, 42.000 in one day is six times more than during the worst days in the spring. 298 deaths on Friday, which is also high. The Critical Care capacity is already occupied at 50%, and the anticiaption is that it will reach 100% around November 10th. Some regions are already starting to send patients to other regions, due to saturation of their critical care department. The first effects of the curfew, which was decided on October 15th, should be measurable at about the very last day of October, this due to the snowballing effect of the affection. If it won't slow down then, there will be no other recourse than a full lock-down. In the meantime, trying to do my best to keep safe... Rgds
This is a disaster: hope your (and our...) health care system can face this impact. Here they say that in a month we will collapse. Ciao
And more than 45k yesterday (Saturday); the health care system should be able to face the pace until November, even if in some cities it is already at the limit. After this, if it does not slow down... Rgds
21 k new infected today, new Italian record. Restaurants will close at 6.00 p.m. every cinema and theater will be closed as well as finess centers, swimming pools.
Seems that there are more cases for sure, more tests too. It also seem that the most vulnerable got taken first phase and that death rate is lower this time? At least the case in France so far in France. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are right, but many still need to be hospitalized: italian hospitals are collapsing or at least this will happen very soon. Ciao
The death rate is lower, but will not stay lower for long, according to most practicians: there is a "lag effect" between the number of contamination cases and the deaths, and they will catch up: the number of deaths has already progressed by 40% between week #41 (= 546) and week 42 (= 764). Yesterday (= Sunday, October 25th) the record of contamination cases has been broken again: + 52k. During the 72 hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday that is a total of 42 + 45 + 52 = 140 k new contaminations... Yesterday: Mr Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, Ministre des Transports (= Secretay of State for Transportation) said: "the virus is now everywhere". Martin Hirsch, Director of the AP-HP (The Parisian Hospitals) and a respected health specialist : "we need to brace ourselves, this second wave will probably be worst than the first" A union of practicians in the Lyon region: "It isn't time to beat around the bush with curfews anymore; it is time for a strict full lock down of the whole country". It is already bad, and it will be worst. Rgds
Ben on est pas dans la merde... à se demander comment ça va se finir... on va tous le chopper! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yesterday 21 k here, 13% of the tested. Let's hope to get out this thing soon or later, even if i'm not much optimist at all... ciao
Indeed...number of death for week 43 is 1148 (Figures from the John Hopkins Institute) average per day: 164...it is rising fast. Rgds Had a good drive yesterday morning with the 328 GTB, the car was just magnificent. That helps...
France, yesterday, Tuesday October 27th: - new infections: 33417 - deaths in 24h: 523 (this equals to the number of detahs of the whole week # 41, only ten days ago!) - occupation of Intensive Care bed capacity: 60% The President will make new announcements today at 20h; it has been said that we must be prepared for "difficult measures"; most people "in the know" believe that he will declare a new "full lock-up" for four weeks, with a possible extension up to mid december if needed. Rgds
Indeed: sometimes you need to see something you like and makes you feel better. And a great looking Ferrari always does it.
what types of therapeutics are these countries deploying early in the aymptomatic phase? and symptomatic phase?
That's not a nice news at all. I heard of 70 k new infected today in France. Here in Italy today 25 k new infected: still only some restrictions, not a full lockdown
Thanks, Bruno. If the numbers will stay on this level for one week more, we expect some firthere restriction also here ciao
A close relative got the virus some weeks ago. She is a 25 years old strong and fit young woman, former good level swimming racing athlete. She was not hospitalized but still suffering a lot the virus effects: symptoms are very painful. This is not a thing to joke with Ciao
I know someone who is in his 90s that had the virus and hospitalized for 3 weeks, he then went to therapy to get stronger at walking and is back home now. There is some confusing info about this whole thing. Im sure something is out there , but the FEAR factor is what makes it believable .
Well, sometimes for good reason. One one my childhood friends is a Doctor working in an hospital; same age as me (= 60); he caught it in the spring at work and went into coma, respirating through tubes and a ventilating machine, etc...for a whole week. His brother was told to prepare the family because "there wasn't much hope left"; he eventually got out of the coma and recovered, but only "somewhat": he is still not breathing fully normally, still has headaches, etc; and not back at work...a teacher in the school of my family village caught it and died (age: 45), also in the spring. So it is around, close to us, and I'm not ready to take a chance with that thing. Remember, for instance, the pictures of hearses queing in Bergamo in the spring? For the time being, for this "second wave" as they call it the numbers of daily contaminations are very high, and the numbers of deaths not so, but still above 200 almost everyday already; most doctors say we might have to be ready for deaths figures above 1.000 in two or three weeks... Rgds
we are at 31 k new infected today, another new record: data just published by Italian authorities. We expect some new restrictions within ten days Ciao
