All foam. No plastic/rubber bits to block air flow :).

I’m thinkin’ 50hp gains and F1 sound, but if I don’t get that, I still would save roughly 2 lbs :).

Don’t forget the zen like experience of adding washing and oiling filters to your annual maintenance. ;)

ITG Foam filter uses a different type of oil used on say a K&N.

    https://www.lotustalk.com/threads/finally-a-real-air-filter.107603/

"Good question-- and another annoyance of fabric filters is the light-weight oil that always finds its way to the MAF and IAC (for DBC cars). The foam filters use an entirely different kind of oil.

Foam filter oil from No-Toil, for an example, spray on thin. You work the oil into the filter and then let the oil setup/dry for an hour or two... Once it drys, it become very tacky-- a bit like "bar and chain oil" for those who work in the yard Image Unavailable, Please Login This tacky oil stays in the filter and typically doesn't make a mess of the MAF sensor like KN oil does...

We pre-oil all the ITG filters before shipping, so the first oiling is on us. You can surely go a few oil changes between cleanings under normal use without worrying about performance degradation... On the other hand, fabric filters should really be cleaned every oil change or after every long track weekend, as the tire particulates will clog them up."

I ran ITG filters on both my Exige and Scud. Scud since 2017.

They also come pre-oiled. At $200 a pair... you can choose to clean them if they're not too dirty or simply replace them if they are.

Kn oil is also tacky, so is every other foam filter oil, go to a motorcycle shop and there's shelves of the stuff .

Just because they are both tacky, doesn't imply they are the same. A foam filter uses a different oil than a fabric filter.

    https://www.boefab.com/products/itg-cold-air-box-rev300-400-itg-cab

"Foam filters allow for better filtration and much better airflow when dirty compared to fabric or paper filters. In addition, the tacky foam filter oil stays on the filter media and reduces residue on the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor when compared to lighter weight oils that become air-born found on fabric filters."

One only need to periodically inspect their filter and MAF (probably same time as an oil change) to get an idea of what the foam filter and oil is doing. The same filters are still on my Exige and Scud since 2017. Zero MAF damage. Is 5 years enough time? Both cars running stronger than ever.

I've used No Toil on my ATV foam air filter. It is really easy to clean if you use their cleaner. However I wouldn't use oiled filters in cars like this due to the MAF.

On a side note. Everytime I’ve inspected the filters, I’ve never had to clean it. They’re pretty clean. If I had to clean, a damp cloth with a few swipes off the flat surface would suffice. This isn’t an intricate cone.

There’s a difference between what filters to choose if you drive 2k mi/year vs 20k mi a year.

Every bike I ever had had foam filter, pj1, no toil, tons of brands the idea that that filter has some secret sauce oil is kind of funny is all. It's not lying it's marketing. [emoji39]

Do you have flow bench numbers for the new-factory filter, and dirty-factory filter, and your filter in new and dirty conditions ??
