It's crunch time for "Mr. This-Is-My-Year". What's the concensus on Ferrarichat for DC. Is it another go at F1 or will our favorite boy be handling your luggage bags at one of his hotels in Monte Carlo? Regards, Jon P. He will get the ride. If not for any other reason than his development and testing skills. This will help the new team develop the car. Beyond that it will be a year in the back or midpack if he is lucky. I still like the guy and he can haul my bags anytime in Monaco
I suspect that Red Bull will pick him up. By the way, to my knowledge the only hotel in Monaco owned by DC is The Columbus (nee Abela). Is there another?
He has another one up in Scotland. I guess going forward he'll armtwist the Red Bull team in staying at his place during the Monaco GP.
My pick on DC is that I don't really care because its pretty much the end. I'd only wish he would go into retirement without having to scrounge for a ride. One win to go out on would be a plus, ( didn't Mika and Gerhard go out with a few wins in their final season?) Its too bad as to go from the top of Williams and then jump to the other summit of McLaren without ever appearing as a threat to the championship, for so many years, having so much support, all the press hype, and with all those promises of "this is my year," and, and and... well it got old fast. He never seemed like a headcase. I think he promoted the Gentleman Racer title so well: high on national pride, respect for his team owners and sponsors, beautiful girlfriends, a key figure in Monaco, many a good wins. For this I would wish he would end on a better note. RocketBoy
he is probably the most unfortunate driver in that he has for his entire career been up against the phenome called schumi. he could have easily been the one in the williams when jv got the crown, had he stayed put. he could probably have done better at maclaren if he did not have to defer to mikka and then both of them having to contend with ferrari's superiority. look at his stats. apart from schumi he is the winningest driver currently running other than michael. if any of us on this forum could drive half as good as he does, we would be stars !
Good call Rocket. Yup, Mika won Indy his last year and I was cheering him on! One of those bittersweet things. I was an MS fan and boooed Mika during the McLaren years. But then when you finally realize you will never see the guy race again I think it brings out the true fan in your heart. DC was always a good bloke. I wish him the best. Jim BTW, I picked the one about DC taking my bags out of my Enzo - because that means I'm getting one!
Everytime I read about DC lately, I hear "Flashdance...what a feeling" by Irene Cara playing in the musac of my mind. ...which is kind of strange, yet oddly apt.
Jon, the answers would be "Probably", and "Are you kidding me?! You expect ME to handle those bags!!! Do you know who I am?!".
While I hope he races, I thought RedBull was not sure abotu their ability to have the cars up and running to Maestichz's (sp?) ideal condition in time? --Dan
