Carlos qualified in 2nd with Niki down in 13th place in their 312T2s. It will be wonderful if Sebastian and Kimi can emulate their 1st and 3rd places.
Gloves are off, nothing to lose just pride to race for...what's there to lose? Especially if it's rain should be a nice demonstration of skill again.
Because at this point its just an exhibition. It's not a sport. Its like reality TV. Even 4th place in the Constructors is locked up. Nothing is going to change.
Personally don't really care for the final standings in championship at the moment...rather just want to see an excellent race. With rain it will certainly be possible. Even dry, I think the Red Bull's are pretty close to the front currently so could very well give a great show.
Sorry, but why are you repeating this all the time? Nobody forces you to watch but to abort the season because the WDC and WCC are done is ridiculous. Can you imagine you are organizing the last race of the season and 90% of the time they ring you up a few weeks before and tell you that they won´t race anymore? All the efforts setting up the race, all the spectators who bought tickets and who are looking forward to see this race once in a year live? There are plenty of sports where you have a season with x games/races and at the end the winner is declared and not like others in play offs. There are still races to win and I doubt that Max in his currents performance would agree with you and say he does not want to race anymore because he can not win the WDC anymore...he can still win races and there are a lot of drivers in the field who are more than happy to get on the podium even at the end of the season.
You don't understand. There's nothing to gain from the drivers or the teams anymore aside from a little pride. They are all going to do the minimum to get by. No one is really going to go for it because there's nothing to go for.
1 through 4 is already locked up. Watching if Torro Rosso gets more points this race isn't going to excite me. Its like saying I want to see how many home runs the Cubs can hit after the Astros won the World Series. Who cares?
Maybe Lewis might have lost his motivation like he did 2 years ago but all in all they are still racers...as soon as the flag drops they want to win, even when the season is decided
Meh! The teams want to protect their investments and will coach the drivers to take it easy or dial in the cars that way. Drivers may be drivers but money still rules racing.
Pride/Bragging rights/records (Vettel, Hamilton, Verstappen). On top of it all the pressure is off, it'll be pure racing (for the aforementioned things). Above all, they're racing drivers, and want to win. It's why men racing in self funded series, from low budget to very high budget, take risks and not skip a race because they either can't win or fancy sitting on the beach in the weekend.
I have to say guys, I'm with the Mayor on this one really. The season was over last month, yeah, some of them will have some fun out there, some will try to win it, but it means almost nothing to anyone. Most of the point playing places set already decided, so there will be elements of the teams where they now start to wind back parts to save on wear and penalties. I for one couldn't care less where anyone but ferrari finishes, and even then, it wouldn't concern me much if we don't do well, seasons over and it only starts counting again in March
