  3. It's a Fiat Key. Just a fyi, when the ignition switch goes bad, you will be replacing it with a Fiat ignition lock.

I had 2 keys cut the other day for my QV DD from a locksmith using Fiat blanks, so if you ring around locksmiths for fiat blanks they should be able to cut them.
$8.00 each NZD.I am sure you will enjoy your Countach I have owned mine for 16 years and still love every drive. Also I use 1st to 3rd when cold. I also have a spare mint condition QV owners manual. My QV is also RHD. If you are not sure about the amount of fuel in your tank you can use a dip stick through the vent above the fuel filler, also the sender unit is next to the filler just under a cover easy to remove and get serviced if needed. About 10 minute job. All the best Phil

Mine does not really burn a lot of oil and besides, all down to use. I use a good quality semi synth 10w - 40, no issues. Original spec oil in the manual is 10w - 50.

Check to see what Iain has used and buy a 1L of that.

Couple of hours driving today in the countach, even picked up my daughter from school much to her embarrassment. It really handles well.

Looks like Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro spec would also cover the full temp range nicely. 0W is definitely more friendly to the engine on cold starts...

Another great drive in the countach. Managed to get three quarters of a tank of fuel in her. Gradually getting more in! I've done around 230km now on all types of road. It does handle well but not sure where the limits are yet and the accelerator is a struggle to get used to but I will get there. It quite dirty now.

Also hit a pigeon at 80 but no damage to the car which is more than could be said for tge pigeon.

    Fantastic images!

Your pigeon incident reminds me of a certain gentleman who collected his new Countach at the factory in the late 80s and drove it back to the UK, he hit a sparrow somewhere in France going VMax on the way back. I saw the car at Portman's West London service center after he arrived, the pantograph arm was mangled and had to be replaced, perhaps that's the difference of another 100 mph?

Fitted a tow bar yet, you can use her to plough the fields :D

Great that plenty of use. The only thing with the accelerator is the long travel. You’ll soon master!

Lucky no damage from our flying friend.

The air intake cover on my car isn't in the original colour. I would like to return it to black. I was thinking of simply spraying it satin black or is there a particular type of paint/ colour used. Image below shows it. Note the cam covers have been repainted black.

Also the leather on the gearbox tunnel is lifting away. It doesn't bother me too much but has anyone managed to glue it back easily?

Finally .. does anyone know the best place to buy a new gas strut for the front boot/ bonnet as the one on won't hold it in position.

  19. Try eurospares.co.uk for the gas strut.

This is the paint I have used on several cars. Nice quality & looks great. Not too shiny. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-extreme-chassis-black-paint.html

I don't think there is much you can do with the tunnel without a complete re do. Many times, the leather has shrunk. You might get lucky though & just a re glue could work.

A leather specialist should be able to manage that. Important to keep the original leather!!, just the material underneath should be replaced. The airfilter cover should be painted in black matt/semi matt. On your existing gas struts should be a part number and the force stated. Stabilus is a known OEM supplier.

That is rather . . . . strange! But as others have mentioned, you can easy respray it back to black. Wonder why it's this colour. Not seen one like this on any car I know?
