Last time I saw this sale was for a 348 for 19K. This time it is a 328. Last time ebay pulled it by the time morning came around. How does this scam work? The seller has a 100% positive rating on over 400 transactions. The auction is only for pre-approved people. Is the seller selling the right to buy at a higher price? What is going on?

In case ebay pulls the auction, here is most of it-
    Seller: dunn940
    1986 Ferrari 328 gtsi
But It Now Price: US $12,600.00
    Miles: 32786
    Transmission: Manual
    Engine: 8 - Cyl.
    VIN Number: ZFFXA20A1G0060347

I have to say that I absolutely could not leave this world without having owned a Ferrari, and it really is THAT much fun,I love it,and I won't cry if it does not sell...it does everything right and NOTHING drives like a Ferrari.....This example is Rosso Corsa Red with Tan leather and as you already know,it is all about condition/mileage with these automobiles...and this one's had all the service completed....[NOT inexpensive] new timing and V belts,bearings,-clutch-[this is the first one !!!],shock bushings, battery, fuel filter, differential fluid, brake fluid, oil and filter, reciever dryer and A/C conversion to 134A [4 months /1000 miles ago] New tires [245/50/16 rear and 215/55/16 front][slightly larger than stock][350 miles ago]...It won't need anything for a long while.. It has the jack kit, tools, books and a full size spare [alloy wheel and new tire]....The paint is excellent....the leather is also in extremely good condition [light nomal wear only]..

Maybe the guy requested it be pulled because he realized he listed it as a 348, which he would have to pony up for $19,000 is someone had bought it. If you list something on e-bay, the listing description is what counts, not the pictures.

  4. It's a total scam. The feedback and seller is someone elses. His account has been robbed. What they will do is get you to wire the money, or send it Western Union. They (supposedly) never take paypal, it must be easier to find them or? Ebay is full of them. I emailed one on a Lotus and got the story of someone saying that they were in the military and would ship it back to the US for free. Be careful what you open up if you start talking with one of these crooks. Getting put on the presigned list and a cheap price, free shipping is a classic tale tall sign.

Wasn't on ebay, I think it was on Autotrader but when I inquired about the VIN on a Testarossa the guy said "send me $1500.00 and I'll give you the VIN". When I told him he was crazy and I wasn't going to send him any money he said "just send me the $1500.00 and I'll ship you the car and you can check it out at your place". When I again told him he was nuts he started insulting ME.

ZR1: When I spotted this on Ebay, I emailed EBAY and questioned the authenticity of this ad due to price, pre-authorized bidders, it was sold on EBAY about 3 months ago in another part of the country using virtually the identical posted description in the previous EBAY ad.
It was gone the next morning.

And if he would list it as what it really is, with the appropriate price taking into account 'major service', he'd probably sucker some poor soul into sending him money.
Lotta suckers out there with Ferrari in their eyes... and no knowledge of the marque...
