after a long hiatus i finnally have my 944 Running again... i rebulit it myself...the 88 turbo S is back on the road because it was sitting around for years. today i finnaly got it running again after about 2 months of hard work (its hard with school and work)

sooo heres wat i did so far i still have a few things to go, but its running:
    -Stainless brake lines
    -Pagid Sport Brake pads
    -Castrol SRF brake Fluid
    -Cleaned out intake manifold
-checked all the belts and pulleys (they were all in really really good shape replaced 2000 miles ago, checked tension too)
    -New oil filter
-Oil Detergent added to get rid of gunk
    -Replaced Coolant
-Resurfaced Brakes (it was a pain finding someone with the equiptment to cut the rotors cuz they are too big for most shops)
-New mobil 1 fully synthetic 10w-30 oil
-ordering new micheln pilot sports tommorrow
    -K and N Air filter
-rebuilt fuel injectors (thank you witchcraft)
    -replace transaxle fluid

i prolly forgot a few things ill add if i think of any more

there is only one problem, the engine is running a little rough and it has a valve tick (im assuming the two things are related) tommorrow im gonna put some marvels mystery oil in the oil and the gasoline, and believe it or not (i know its worked before) it might clear up the valve tick. if it doesnt any suggestions on rebuilding the head??? think i can do it myself??? if not how much would a rebuild be???...i know this isnt a technical forum, but i thought id ask anyway

Nice! I was looking to one of those cars for myself. I love the seat fabric!

I hope you get the rest of those problems sorted out...those are really nice cars!

Did Porsche custom match the seat fabric to your boxer shorts? : )

If it hasn't run for a long time, that's not surprising. Did you stabilize the fuel prior to storing it? If not, drain the tank, fill it up with some good sauce, and take it for a good flogging assuming there are no other significant issues with gaskets and the like.

Probably not related. I would first be certain that it is a valve noise, and not an exhaust gasket or something of that nature. Does it go away when the engine warms up? If so, I'd try an oil with a lower cold weight. Something like Royal Purple 5w40 might be something to try.

Ditto! This model was one of my favorites, and its probably one of the best handling production Porsches of all time!

Hope to see you out on a run with it in the near future ;)
