Melbourne named worlds second most liveable city 21 February 2011 Melbourne, Australia, has been named the worlds second most liveable city in the Economist Intelligence Units (EIU) annual Global Liveability Report 2011, up from third place 12 months ago. The latest report gave the Victorian capital perfect scores for education, healthcare and infrastructure, cementing the citys position as one of the worlds best places to live, work and study. Melbourne scored 97.5 out of a possible 100 to displace the Austrian capital Vienna and re-take second position on the EUI index, a ranking it last achieved in 2008. Australian cities Sydney, Perth and Adelaide also scored in the top ten, with scores of 96.1, 95.9 and 95.9 respectively. Vancouver, Canada, was the only city to outscore Melbourne in the report, which takes into account factors including crime rates, cost of living, infrastructure and climate. http://www.invest.vic.gov.au/20110211-melbourne-named-worlds-second-most-liveable-city?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=tweet&utm_content=melbourne+named+worlds+second+most+liveable+city&utm_campaign=t+feb+11
Melbourne is a such a lovely city. Dont know about these "most liveable city" reports. I mean, Adelaide was voted in the top 10?? C'mon!!!!!!
Yep, there's two there, both with very nice credit card swipers. You'd know, caught you having a perve too!
When they say Melb or Sydney do they mean just the CBD or suburbia as well? Majority of Sydneysiders don't live in the city. The report is $500 so we can't even look at it. I want to see if they forgot to include the Canterbury-Bankstown area in the report http://store.eiu.com/product/475217632.html?ref=av_search
That's good, he's a good man! Family dinner on Friday night, gonna ask for money to buy a Lamborghini.
All depends on how it is measured. Sydney has one of the worst levels of housing affordability in the world. Goods and services are expensive in Sydney too. These count for how liveable a city is for people.
Yeah the BBQ set pumping up property prices in Kew by purchasing them on the drip doesn't help does it?
Why so suprised?.......I know it isn't Melbourne but it's still a very liveable city...much underated by those on the East Coast
Bloody ridiculous! Havent you seen this video before? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL7UGpLMqEE[/ame]
There's a big difference between visiting a city and living in it Darren, but having said that I really liked Adelaide when I visited last year and commented that I could live there. There was just something about the place, it had a warm feeling.
