The Supercar Club have finished the conversion of their Ford GT and just got it registered so I went down this afternoon and took it for a quick spin.

    What a mad, mad car!

It's many ways it is easier to drive around town than anything from Italy (we took it right into Melbourne Town and grabbed a coffee at Fed Square). The clutch / drive train is really nice to drive and the ride is super comfortable. There's heaps of room, it sounds awesome and it pulls pretty damn hard too.

But it's like driving a car around wearing Ned Kellys helmet - you really can't see anything at all - even can't see a lot in front of you (A Pillar takes up half your vision). Rear vision is about on par with a Gallardo / F430 and side vision is 11ty times worse. Which all up is bad given how MASSIVE the car is. It really is huge and it really wants for big open roads just so you can relax in it and enjoy it. Because other than the hugeness and lack of vision thing it really was kinda cool.

Anyways - its something different around these streets thats for sure.

    Cheers

Well the "Door Adjar" light was on constantly and the reversing sensors would yell out "Crash" when you were miles from anything so in many sense you are right. But then so many supercars are rubbish but it doesn't make them any less enjoyable. I can tell you a stack of things that have been wrong with the Ferraris and Lambos as well but they still make me smile too.

When I heard the original GT40 fired up at Bowden's it put a smile on my face that lasted for days - hope the new version's as good.
This is one of those cars that I'm glad other people own, because while I wouldn't want one, I wouldn't like to see them disappear either.

I see that you advertise converted cars for sale at $500k. I assume this is also the clearance outlet for old club cars going to market as it has the silver CS and some other P1 cars?

Is this the very same Ford GT that I saw at Sandown yesterday at the BDD?? I was surprised as to how big it actually is in 'the metal'!!

I can tell you the Super Legg is freaking awesome as a passenger :D :D (Not lucky enough to drive one). Won the BDD 'dodgy lunchtime raffle' a couple of BDD's back and got a few laps of EC in it - was smiling for days afterwards :D :D :D

Oh, and the Ford GT sure looks like it is not an easy car to get out of :p

Megan - yes indeedy, that was me at Sandown.
And yeah, I've smacked my head on the doors so many times... one day I'll remember :)

360C - yeah, those are our cars. When we've turned cars over in the past, they've mostly gone as trade on a replacement. This is just another avenue of sale - all cars will be advertised when they hit the 6-month mark and then traded if not sold after 9-months. Obviously an ex-Club car isn't for everyone, but there's been quite a bit of interest, especially in the rarer cars (especially the Atom).

Scud - we put an ad in Unique Cars and in the Top Gear Aus magazine.

I took the GT around to show a friend today and it really is surprisingly docile in traffic - its very different to the Italians and Germans, and just feels 'cool' to drive. We've got a launch for it on Thursday night in Melbourne, let me know via PM or email if you're interested in coming. I'll have a Roaring Forties car there too - will be good to see them side by side.

nice, and i'm not telling you how to suck eggs but be careful, you can't rent out trading stock, ask the resident fchatter on the ATO payroll. :p

i wondered if you paid full freight on the car at purchase, i guess not as the rip would be too great. wish i had thought of it :p
