    It's not incredible at all.

Not long ago I was at the drive through of a fast food joint and the bill was $9.10
I handed over $10.10 simply because - obviously, I thought - I wanted $1 change rather than a bunch of small coins.
The young girl was completely stumped.
Initially she tried to hand the 10c back, saying "its only $9.10" and when I tried to explain she got flustered, pulled out a calculator from the drawer and started madly punching into it and not getting anywhere.
Eventually I gave up and allowed her to give me my original 10c piece back, followed soon after by another 90c.
    I kid you not.

The most disturbing thing is that when I say "young girl" she would have had to be 16 or 17.

What the **** are kids being taught at school these days?

    Correct.

It really is a joke. When I was at school (roll eyes) only one generation ago, everyone - and I mean everyone - in the class would have been able to work these things out by the age of about 8, but now 16 year olds can't?

    over reliance on technology...
girl taking a breakfast order recently when a poached egg was ordered wrote 'p' then stopped, looking stumped - my aunt and I both looked at each other and had to suppress a giggle because it was obvious she couldn't spell poached. Sent the docket to the kitchen with ' p egg' on it!

I think a lot of these stories are deliberate stirring by the business owner - any publicity is good publicity, especially when it's free.

Are you saying the owner sacked a worker for publicity?

As I said, that ex-worker needs to consult a lawyer immediately and go as hard as possible on the moron boss.

I wasn't referring particularly to that one, whom I agree has left herself open to unlawful dismissal charges.

Something completely different - anyone else confused by the information arriving regarding the national rally? Seems first night dinner has been turned into a black tie event and the final dinner (which is when presentations usually happen) has been turned into the costume party night? Curious as to how people are going to register (not open until 3pm), get their car sorted for concorso next morning (not my problem ) and be togged up in black tie by 6pm for the AGM which runs onto dinner... Not to mention the trophies being awarded to people in costume? Seems odd to me (and several other Queenslanders I've spoken to) since the costume night is usually a relaxed party night with lots of dancing etc, the presentation dinner a more formal event with the speeches etc. Some wires seem to be crossed.

The odd incident here or there may have a whiff about it, but overall I'd say that's extremely unlikely.
In fact, the only "incident" that so far has been proven to be fake was the claim by "yes" campaigners that Melbourne was "plastered" in nasty posters.

It's also hard to see how "no" voters could have set up the disgraceful abuse we saw at Sydney University last week.

I was undecided so I put a cross between the 2 boxes .............. hope it's not decided by 1/2 a vote.

Actually, you're not RIGHT about any of that.

You know, it occurred to me that this is the first vote I've participated in where either result is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned.

    If it's "yes" that's cool because I don't actually give a ****.

If it's "no" that's ok too as it'll provide months of entertaining melt-downs and losing of the plot by all manner of idiot lefties, and who doesn't want to see that?!
It'd be like Trump all over again!

    :p
