Of course it's not acceptable for a gay partner to be treated differently to a heterosexual partner in that situation.

No, you are completely wrong. Gay couples already have full legal protection, no different to any common law relationship.

 

Are you sure mate? I was under the impression that things like superannuation (going to partner in case of death) and income splitting with partner (wife) wasn't available to gay couples? I'm probably wrong, as I haven't felt the need to research the subject much. I decided bottom sex wasn't for me a long time ago.

I haven't read the article, but I did hear him talk about it this morning.
It sounds like he just wants them to show some respect to the country that has made them millionaires by being fat and running into people.
