That's disgraceful.......All of this rubbish lobbied by people who have monopolised this country for generations and made a lot of money out of it........Now we get stuck with this S#%t.......So does this mean Duty Free will no longer exist in Australia like it does in the rest of the world?
I think every time I order a part from now on I’ll get it sent to my friend in the UK, have him re-package it and send on to me.
I hope it's in Australia otherwise he will get smashed if he imports that HOS into Australia. Thats what I do Steve.......Although hand carrying a Capristo exhaust on the bus , train and ferry gets you some weird looks.......
The Entry was $22.00 per item at customs, and couriers add there processing fee on top. And you will get hit no matter how you bring parts. Between this and the Asbestos issue it will be interesting to see what happens with classic car values.
Actually this is an interesting point since I haven't heard anything about the Duty Free limits for returning travelers being reduced (it's currently $400 as I recall). This is a ham-fisted rule that will kill small transactions, but probably not bother big ones so much.
Karen they changed it a while back.....It's $900 if you are over 18 and $450 if you are under 18.......Watch this space when the changes occur.....
I can assure you from first hand business dealing that he is a nasty and ruthless man, quite unlike the smiley public persona he cultivates. Sent from my SM-G950F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
because the 95% of Australians who don't go to his shops will have to pay 25% more for anything they buy on ebay or similar. GH acted purely out of self interest and our gormless politicians bought the story. I've met plenty of successful entrepreneurs who are good people, you don't have to be a total jerk to get rich, but that seems to be his method.
He lives down the road from me.......He is a prime DH......Even the bloke that cuts his hair hates him.....
I can't see them leaving it the same if all the other changes are coming....This country is a hopeless nanny state.....
How is GH business model any different from any other retailer? I don't think too many people buy furniture from overseas and Kogan (which is the big electrical competitor as I understand) is Australian based so won't be affected. The main beneficiary of this will be good ol' government and local retailers for small stuff like shoes, clothing etc.
But who is to blame for Aussie distributors selling there product for $600 odd when it landed in my letter box for $327 from the US. & Spark plugs $100 for 8 from the UK $31.ea at Supercheap. Wouldn't be greed would it.
