Unfortunately that event ocurred before the Muslim Brotherhood (much admired by Obama) came to power, with its strict literal interpretation of the Qurran and Sharia law. Not many Egyptians would risk showing overt support for christians today, because extremists see moderate muslims as an enemy. In fact, they see everyone who isnt bug-eyed crazy as the enemy.
Maybe so mate, but it just highlights the fact that the vast majority are peace loving and integrate. It’s the minority of ****wits that cause these abominations, and attempt to force their will on the masses. Bullet all the ****wits and the situation will be normal again. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm certainly not making excuses for the IRA dickheads, but I seem to recall they were in the habit of calling ahead so that the authorities could try to clear out as many innocent people as possible. The muslim extremist dickheads we are dealing with now do no such thing, and often have another bomb ready to go off when all the emergency workers and other people rush in to try to help. A not insignificant difference, IMO.
I read that "the troubles" are brewing up again but I don't think it will be sustained like last time, because Ireland is much wealthier now and poverty is the great breeding ground for hatred. Also, the IRA was significantly funded by donations from the Irish community in the USA, which now isn't so motivated. Unfortunately the parallel situation in the ME is the funding of extremist groups by Saudi, which shows no sign of abating. Most of the bloodshed boils down to a Saudi Sunni vs Iran Shia proxy fight.
According to some Aussies in Sri Lanka interviewed by the press, they were warned to stay away from Colombo on the weekend. However there's not much humanity in any zealot and I wouldn't be too kind to the IRA - many, many innocent people were murdered by them.
Yes, but there's a flaw in that argument. The vast majority of Germans and Japanese during WWII were nice people, I'm sure - that made no difference to the atrocities committed by their governments.
