Was Australia ever in danger of being invaded by the Japanese in 1942? NO Maybe not in 1942. But Bombs on Darwin, shelling Newcastle & Sydney & possibly other places. Families relocating their women & children inland away from the coast, as some of mine did to Inverell. So someone must have thought an invasion possible
I'd suggest apart from the 200 plus aircraft that attacked Darwin in mid-Feb 1942 the balance of attacks on the upper region of Australia were "raids" The comment made which is totally inaccurate was that the US and Britain would not have come to our aid! As I commented the British had enough to worry about, including the bombing of her cites and an Invasion from France across the channel, while the Americans lost the 7th Fleet (Pacific fleet)
Mind you, I wasn't really interested in world affairs back then, but it was good when Dad got back from Borneo. Apparently.
My brother in law’s grandfather was in Borneo too. He was from Newcastle/Hunter area. Apparently one of the first to go in, their unit was a precursor to the Z Special Unit
That’s the reason I end up in Australia. Im from Borneo and my dad thought aussies are nice as they came to help. They even named a street after the aussie in jesseton, now KK.

I'll be in the UK during the NSW election so went down to early voting today. My local seat went Teal in the federal election, based on winning 14% of the primary vote. This lady standing in front of me, clutching her Labor, Teal and Greens how to vote cards, struck me as the perfect example of why our country is doomed. These are the people who control the future. Must have been very low primary votes for ALL contestants to win on preferences from 14% primary... 2022 results show teals won Wentworrh from 35.77; North Syd with 25,2,Mackellar 38.1 and Warringah 33.35; and by definition of preferential voting NONE of their opponents had anywhere near a majority primary vote... I think our preferential system has a lot if merit especially when considered against what’s happened in the US at the last 2 elections where tiny (fractions of a percent in states with large electoral college numbers) have led to the last 2 governments (and may well lead to another flip next year).
Her vote will be wasted as she votes for a privileged wealthy middle-class female Teal, who has her OWN agenda. Caring little for the electorate. I'm so anti the preference vote allocation as shown at the last Federal and State VIC elections, A Teal with the allocation of preference votes from Labor and the Greens as per the Federal election will be elected .. Summary . Privilege wealthy middle-class middle-aged woman gets elected by naive voters.
