RIP, always enjoyed his reviews https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/celebrity-deaths/legendary-australian-film-critic-david-stratton-dead-at-85/news-story/65644ddc9d062cf1cc425bd82839cf29
Sad,I quite enjoyed his movies: https://www.9news.com.au/world/terence-stamp-priscilla-queen-of-the-desert-superman-actor-dead-at-87/f3db5fdf-5f1c-4002-b271-ca7ce46fcd4e
I loved his dialogue with Margaret Pomerantz, their on screen synchronicity mirrored a bickering husband and wife, which added depth and perspective to their reviews. And he wasn't ashamed to admit he loved the on screen ladies. It's difficult to imagine his comments flying in the current social climate, I'm glad I was able to watch him from the 1980s. He introduced me to Italian, French and Norwegian cinema of which little was known or screened on free to air back then, it was eye opening. Many years ago I held a door open for him at the Sydney Film Festival, he was very gracious and thanked me. I replied, "How could I not open a door for a man that loves Wages of Fear and Monica Vitti". He laughed and we had a brief chat about Antonini, of which he was a fan. The depth of his cinema knowledge was extraordinary, such that like many experts, it suggests one's own achievements, as wholly inadequate.
Just when you think the labor/green/left circus couldn't get more bizzare, this happens. "Jackie Trad is the new Clean Energy Council chief executive."
Surprise, surprise. These guys don't even try to make it look legit. The arrogance of the Left is incredible.
