I bought HUTCH91TR's '91 Testarossa which he had consigned at Autosport Designs on Long Island. Started my trip back yesterday at noon and got back about an hour ago... Drove over 1200 miles to bring the car from Huntington Station (NY) to my home in Clearwater (FL). Only stopped to get gas and to have dinner with friends in North Carolina on my way down.. It was a fun, incident free trip.. The car ran fantastic!!! Will take some pics of the car tomorrow and post links to them... I'm tired, but I'm at work now... 18+ hours of driving (hit some bad traffic in Virginia) and only 3 hours of sleep during the last 48 hours or so.. I might be sleeping all weekend
good for you, i am in savannah if you are ever on the road and need anything. pm me some time for my number. its nuce to travel and know you have somewhere to go / call if something wierd happens wuth the cars . TR seemed like a nice one, we need a driving report! i am getting a 12 something when the GTB goes. best, Michael
If it isn't dark when I get home, I might take some pics today.. However, the car needs a good cleaning after a 1200 mile trip.... When I'm done cleaning, it'll probably be dark already and my digital camera sucks at night...
There were lots of cops on the street during my trip.. The radar dedector went off every 10 minutes... I also didn't get on it too much becuase I was only covered with liability insurance because my Hagerty policy wasn't ready when I left Autosport Designs... Didn't wanna take any chances... BTW - here are some pics of the car from Autosport Designs http://www.autosportdesigns.com/Sales/Salesphotos.aspx?ID=1083
Congrats. May your journey never end! I'm also a recent TestesRoaster owner, but only got to drive her 7 hours to her stable vs. your 18! Damn, what a rush that additional 11 hours of hwy joy that must have been!!!!
Until about 2 weeks ago, I still hadn't made up my mind what car to get... I was actually between a TR, a '96 - '97 Viper GTS or a brand new Corvette Convertible.... Obviousely, I decided on getting the TR
red/tan, Tubi exhaust with hollowed out cats (no emmissions in Florida, so that's no problem and more power )
BTW - here's what I sold to free up the garage space for the TR... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Corvette-Convertible-1998-Corvette-Convertible-black-6-speed-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ4583187430QQcategoryZ6168QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Sad to see that car go but right now I've got no space and I'd feel bad having the car sit outside... (This morning when I pulled in with the TR, I had to pull out the C5 Vette already. The buyer is supposed to pick up the car tomorrow) Still got my '68 Vette 10 second Drag Race car... http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/grandsportc3/bothwheels2.jpg
Congratulations on the purchase! I know that car (and its former owner) personally and it's definitely a nice one!
I like the fact that the car was actually driven frequently (at least in the last year). My personal experience with vehicles that haven't been driven too much has been that I usually had more problems with cars that weren't driven as frequently than those that were.
This TR has had $20,000 spent with Autosport Designs in routine maintenance from July 2003 to present to keep it in superb running condition.(From Autosport website) Good for you that this was paid by the previous owner. Looks great, Enjoy.
I was second in line to buy that car. You beat me to it. I wish you the best and what fun to drive it 1200 miles. Gotta love it. The car is a pretty good deal with what people are asking for these cars nowadays. Steve called and told me that a nice guy bought it. Congrats one more time. I also got lucky and found a super nice 11k miles 89 red tan as well. I think its a pretty good deal as well and i paid close to what you paid. Unless you paid more then what i was going to buy it for. Lets talk sometime.................keep in touch.
I know that car VERY well as well as the owner, and they're both top notch.. Really sad to see Hutch Ferrari-less-- but at least it went to an Fchatter. Enjoy it in good health!
It was actually a interesting story how I found out about that car... I'm doing lots of research on Ebay etc. and I frequently look thorough completed listings, mostly to see if any of the cars met reserve and how much they went up to so that I'd get some kind of idea of what kind of deal I could expect to get. Saw the auction for that TR and I always check the feedback of buyer and seller to see if the deal went through and I saw the negative feedback on the buyer that never paid.. I called Autosport Designs on the same day and they still had the car.... Followed up with them on Monday to let them know for sure that I was going to take the car... Inbetween, last weekend I fould out that the car was actually HUTCH91TR's car when I read through a couple of threads... What a coincidence... Sorry that I beat you getting that car.. Wish that there would've been 2...

She's a vixen! Say, what do you think about fender badges and a prancing horse emblem for the front grill? I am thinking about them for mine! Image Unavailable, Please Login
