ok after much thought and talking with several people, I'm officially looking for a 348 !!
    (darn Top Gear video)
Plus the Mrs. likes them ;) (always a bonus)

I thought about a 328, but deceided against it for the same reasons I sold the 308 QV, I wanted more modern and more torque.
Although I LOVE the 328 looks.

I want to stay in the 50-55 range, and keep it for a year, then into a 355 for a year, or whenever the 360's drop sub 100k.

From what I have found, I want a red/tan GTS, no TS. and no spiders. It's gotta be a 93 or newer. ;)

If anyone hears of a car PLEASE let me know, I can't purchase until June 1st, I moving at the end of May. and want have a garage until then.

I can't wait the join the "brotherhood"

    I

The seller of that car is a regular here at Fchat. So that is a plus, as well as his being a real car guy (I think he previously built his own Shelby Mustang and Cobra cars). Nice looking, low mileage, looks good to me. Only down side is not a GTS. What is your reason for limiting the search to the GTS model???
    :)

Finding a GTS in the USA will be considerably more difficult than a ts... but they're out there!

Yes I think finding a GTS will be rather hard. It was a European model and not imported. In my search I did not see any for sale in the US. You may pay a premium to have a federalized car. There was really no outword apperance differences like in the 308.

I think a well sorted ts (such as previous mentioned) would be cheaper and easier to find and just as satisfying. Especially if you are looking to "flip it" in a year or two.

I thought all post 92 cars were GTS's. (what year did the 2.7 come in ?)
I have talked to two dealer service guys, and a independant who knows 348 in and out, they all said go with a later 93 or later car.

What years are considered "early years" ?

The 348 came out in 1989 with Motronic 2.5. I'm pretty sure that starting some time in 1990 all of the 348's went to Motronic 2.7 (a pretty decent fuel system that made the cut for the 1995 F355 - the model 355 with the most horsepower of all years, I think, as well as some later year 355 Challenge race cars, perhaps).

The 348 GTS and 348 GTB cars were European models. They had a taller intake plenum than the 348 U.S. versions, and a different cam timing that made 320 peak horsepower (but with a torque curve that ramped up later - something less suitable to U.S. driving styles).

You can learn about all Ferrari 348 models here: http://webpages.charter.net/aircover/348/1994Ferrari348Spider.html

Yes the GTS/GTB was a Euro version. '93-'94 model year. 320hp 119H engine code. As opposed tho 119G in US cars. Although US model had 312hp with Bosch 2.7.

'93 you are looking at a Series Speciale tb/ts only 100 made.

'94 were limited production. 45 factory challenge (32tb/13ts) and 15 Series Speciales that were all ts.

Also check out the Ferrari Club of America web site. Under regions, the NW region has good write up about dfferences in 348 models under FAQ.

'93 and '94 cars had body colored panels. Called Series Speciale paint. Pre '93 had matte black lower panels and rear deck lid. Alot were repainted though.

I was actually looking for a TB...I suggest you at least look at spiders.

92 TS or newer has all the really key upgrades. Make sure you look at several.

That's because there's no traffic in The Isa. You need to take a run to a big City !
