It is on, the words never more true spoken. On a blustery Sat. morning. The red menace with the oh so familar "rear audible" now trademarked. Leaves his plush abode destined for the open road in search of a suitable oponent. What to his traveling eye should appear in the distance! He is not sure, it looks sleak, like the German Gods have come together in one last feat to prove that old dogs can learn new tricks. As he nerely misses the naroscape of the brush with red death. Ah the to familar sound of a Pcar's hood shutting. It is ON. They meet feverishly at the traffic signal two lanes wide. The rumble of the italian horse desire to escape the gates. While the Pcar is no where to be heard. (insert starting noises) it springs to life. Six against 8, red against blue. Blonde agains brunette. The smell of clutches fill the air as the red goes green. The tired pcar brushes the right guard rail with sparks of delight as he passes the powerful beast turning two lanes to one. Finally Doug shifts from first and he is off, the wondering eye of the German owners still in disbeleif as he screams from his cripled ride. WE SHALL MEET AGAIN, the one they call Fresh.
Forgot to mention the fresh P-Zero's.....Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black... Biatch..........
From a distance it will look like a storm is approaching...Then all poor Bob will see is his demise eagerly awaiting him. They'll be sticky baby, bank on it.... Tick tock tick tock, I'll be there shortly Bob....
I was out in mine this morning! Took if for a state inspection (I LOVE NORTH CAROLINA!!! Wink wink!) and got my new sticker. No sniffers anymore. Life is good. The dude at Q-lube was so enthusiastic, I took him for a little drive... nothing like hitting the rev limiter on a crisp Saturday morning with a first time Ferrari rider in the passenger seat! I think he had a pretty good time, and although not overwhelmed with the raw power, I think the sound and tightness of the car impressed him.
The mark of a true "driver wannabe". Maybe when you learn how to drive, I'll let you sit in the race car. Right now, you are not worthy....
and the guy with the old and tired P-car is able to drive his car home, and comes to the rescue of a fallen competitor....

Yep ferrarioldman called it alright, how i have no idea, he did not even know about the problem until after it happened. I guess you can see things when you have been around them for so long. All of those authorized Ferrari techs that I spoke to who said the problem would not escalate, boy were they dead wrong. I wish I could have talked to Tom one day earlier, may have been able to prevent some heartache. Doug I sure hope you can get a quality mechanic to fix it. It is certainly an area I would not be comfortable working in. My suggestion would be Tom. and Why anyone would laugh at someone else's misfortune is just beyond me, it is amazing how low some people can go. A true sign of a real class act.
Wade, Maybe you should know the circumstances behind a comment before you make such accusations. ...and if I were you, I wouldn't discuss professionalism or "class acts" in public....
Bob, Not sure where you are coming from BUT, that comment I made, was NOT directed toward you. Why would you think it was? If you look at the post prior to yours you will see where it was directed.
As far as I see, his car broke down, his arm didn't fall off. Unfortunate, yes, but I'm sure the laugh was all in good fun.
Thanks for weighing in. You don't know the circumstances around the situation. The laugh is/was in good fun but I'm now facing a minimum engine out service.
What was the problem Wade? Maybe we can all learn from this. I haven't had a chance to talk to Doug yet.....where is his car now?
Seems the problem was that there is a service bulletin out on the 348/Mondial T. it is for the oil pump drive gears, according to hte bulletin the bearing comes apart and the chain pads prematurley wear and the whole setup needs to be upgraded to the 355 oil pump drive assembly. FNA does not have the bulletin, it was sent out by the Factory, some dealers I spoke to after the fact knew nothing about it. According to the Ferrari techs I spoke, it sounds like there are marbles in the front bottom of hte engine. They told me it was not severe and just as long as you upgrade it when you do the major service it should be fine. So on the advice of the technicians I relayed to Doug that the car should be ok to drive. Well I spoke to the wrong guys, Sat. I spoke to Tom Jones and he said It should be investigated and determined how bad off it was. By that time it was too late, the bearing sounded like it started to come apart. So now it has to be fixed, after further investigation it would have yeilded the same outcome but at least it would have not had sounded like it did. I should have kept the car here to investigate further but I did not, it was a bad judgement call. SO all of you with 348's and Mondial T's with chassis #'s prior to 91500 check to see if this has been done. If not DO IT,even if you have just has a major, do it again. Daniel Pass has the parts and you will save yourself lots of anguish to get it done now. Wade
