    Well, not exactly.

    BUT

Us 348ers have taken a lot of abuse from 355ers... "the 355 is much better, the 348 is junk, etc."

So here's my point: has anyone noticed that the 348 has become HUGELY popular lately? The 348 enthusiasm is incredible.

I don't see the same enthusiasm for 355s. Maybe it's because of all the 355 engine-related problems, I dunno. Your thoughts?

355ers welcome to chime in... just remember, this is 348 territory here :)

What you have only JUST noticed this, it has been discused in detail on this section for the last month;) Mind you being a 348 owner i can understand why you are a little behind:D
I have not expereanced any engine problems i the 18 months and 10,000miles that i have owned my 355, unlike the big problems that the 348s engines have like er....the power of a hair dryer and the tork of falling kitten poo:D And the factory for got to put in the extra 8 valves in the heads.
Also seems that the factory were playing a joke on the 348s by welding iron bar across the ford capri rear lights, just to see if anyone is realy going to fool them selfs by saying that they acualy likes this;)
As for the side slats, dont 348 owners know that ferrari did it just to remind you for ever that if you had just worked harder you could have owned a Testarossa? :D
And what can i say about the exhaust sound of the 348 :D LOL!!!!!:D Sorry there is no help that can be offerd i am afraid LOL!!!:D
We all know th 348s mantra is " when i get big i want to be a 355" and "i want a set of them 18inch 335 wheels please" boo hoo, you have got one so live with the mistake that you have bought upon ya selfs.
    .
    .
    .
    .
( Right then :D That should be enough to start a anti 355 sentiment and that "i realy do love my 348" feeling, does this help??):D.....right i am of......

not owning either id put it down to the fact that whilst the f355 may be the better car to drive, the 348 just looks more like the classic 80s ferrari we have in our heads, more striking than the 355. ive always thought it was cooler looking than the testarossa.

    bring back the side slats!

They also forgot to put the extra 8 valves into the F430 as well - oh well - looks like they learned by their mistakes :D

Its all down to taste. My budget would have bought me a 348 or a 355, however my dream car was a Testarossa. I am sure there are plently of 348 owners who could of easily bought a 355, but due to taste and desire opted for the 348.

Is this another one of those 348-owner insecurity threads (just kidding)? They are both great Ferraris but the F355 has more performance (objective factor) and, in my opinion (subjective factor) also looks better. As for money, all Ferraris are expensive to own. If that was the most important factor, we would all be drivng Hondas now, wouldn't we?

Hold on boys! I have yet to have a 355 run away from me on a run.
I have come to the conclusion that the 355 is like a women, with its smoth lines and curves and its high maintenance costs. Yep just like a women.

how come no one compares the 360 to the 355? it is the next car inline! I would hope that the 355 is a better car then the 348, its newer just like the 430 is to the 360 is to the 355 is to the 348 is to the 328 is to the 308 and so on!
maybe I should sell my collection of cars and buy a 430 so i can pick on everyone else, well maybe not the enzo`s. dam thats car is better then the 430, i cant win geeees

I was a 348 HATER until my dad bought his '95 348 Spider (see link below). After putting on a TUBI and test pipes and throwing this thing around town w/ the top down, I now LOVE the car. It is actually MORE fun to drive than my TR, yet doesn't quite have the "awe" factor from onlookers that the TR has(not that I give a ****).

While I would not bash a 348, I have a 355. It is the most wonderfullly driving, powerful, great sounding, and sexy-looking automobile. Engine problems? Well only a manifold that the factory replace a couple years ago. I drive it as a Ferrari is meant to be driven. Wonderful. I went on a drive and was ahead of a 348 all the time. Case closed!

The cars you mentioned are not better, there just diferent models. I dont think my 355 is better than a 72 Dino or indeed a 288 becourse its a decade or two newer. Or even the F430 that i drive is better than a 1966 250LM or a 80s F40.

The reason the 348 was behind was because he was comparing rear lights and thinking of how nicer the slats at the back of 348's look.

Ok you guys I'll through in my 2 cents here. I think I am somewhat qualified to give an opinion since I owned an SS for 7 years and now have a 355 that I've owned for three years (all though its a factory challenge that I drive as a road car now). Most of the comments I could make are subjective and my opinion means nothing except to myself. The only complaints I have is shift linkage on the 348 and the valve guide and exhaust manifolds on the 355s, all are shamefull for a company as great as Ferrari. All in all they are great cars for different reasons. No reason to bash your own brothern, if you have to bash lets pick on the lessers out there....which would be every other marque. LOL.
    Regards, Vern

I love my 348. I think 355's are fantastic, and occassionally I start to think about changing, but just looking at those querky stide strakes, the agressive front and the 80's rear just draws me closer to my mini tessa.

The only bashing I'll give is in the looks department - In terms of gender, a 348 is definately high testosterone, whereas the 355 is more of a ladies car (especially the spider!):) whoops!

And the power steering on my 355 (spider) helps me park, so my arms dont hurt while turning the wheel:D

    Hi guys,

    Nice thread :)

Sorry I haven't commented, but I've been away!

I did remember this topic being discussed recently, but I couldn't find the thread so I figured I'd consolidate it all here :)

Here's the question: Why all the sudden enthusiasm for 348s? For as long as the 348 has been around, the 348 has been the "worst Ferrari ever built." Is that conception changing? And why is it that 348s are now in higher demand?

Is this your own personal opinion? Where do you get your pearls of wisdom from? Why do “you think” it is the worst? Did you conduct your own survey? I feel the 348 is a classic example of a stellar Ferrari with fantastic lines. The only issues I have with the car is the unforgiving gear box and the exhaust. Nuf Said.
