I am considering replacing all of the hoses on my 1980 400i. Has anyone here compiled a comprhensive list? I'm thinking about taking an extended road tour this spring..Florida -.--New England -Canada-California-ship back to Florida..the car is in good shape (it's the red one in the post about great detailing)..any and all help will be gratefully appreciated..thank you all in advance..and by the way... I just don't "get" the snobbery against red 400's in the recent post..thanks again..Jacques..

I don't think it was snobbery, just that a GT car is not a Sports car and for whatever reason some folks think ONLY sports cars and certainly FERRARI sports cars should be red...NOT the GT Ferrari's. I am with you and disagree completely, but hey, that is why there is chocolate AND vanilla ice cream! Good to have choices!

For me it's personal preference. I'm not a fan of red Ferraris, especially 2+2s. However, there are plenty of people that like them

I inspect and change all hoses before any trip that takes me farther away from home then AAA will pay for to get me back home.
a wise idea to change ALL hoses before a long trip such as the one planned. DO NOT forget to change out all oil lines. I would also look at the vacuum lines , the rubber lines on each brake caliper, the fuel lines. DO NOT miss a single hose, for if one is over looked, it will let go somewhere in the middle of West Virginia.
GT Car Parts (AZ) or T.Rutlands (GA) will do ya right. Also Brian Keegan at A-W is "the man" when it comes to knowing anything about Ferrari. All these guys will set ya straight when it comes to hoses, belts, filters......

Often overlooked Don't forget the heater hoses behind the wipers and the ones going into and out of the left and right heater cores.

Jacques - this is a project Im considering as well. A comprehensive listing with prices of the hoses would be a useful addition to this site for future reference. Seeing that a number of us will purchase 'the complete set at the right price' it may be worth mentioning this to the suppliers you contact and all the hard work will be done for you in this research.

Add me to the list who would be interested in replacing all the water, oil and brake hoses (already did the vaccuum hoses to get it running right!).

    everyone,
I will put the list together for the 365 and the 400. If the 412 is needed let me me know. Please give me about a week to pull together pricing and availability.

Thank you so much for offering to compile a list of hoses..Hopefully you can include sizes and lengths in the data..then perhaps I could assemble some packages for those in need..thanks Jacques.

You da man! That would be an invaluable list, since there are lots of hoses and, I suspect, many are relatively hidden and might be overlooked through anything less than a very careful inspection.

    Thanks!

I recently did all the coolant hoses (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173864) except the one which needs disassembly of the water pump (it is the one from the water pump to the timing chain casing). One other was overlooked in the first instance but is replaced now as well. This was the one from the radiator to the expansion tank, which is normally not filled with water but is under system pressure and can burst as well. All in all I have used 8 different diameter hoses which I all bought by the meter. The upper radiator hose (from engine to thermostatic valve) needed a special trick since the thermostat side diameter is smaller than the engine side dia.

Ok, Iv found a list of hoses on the Italiancarparts site I think this is a step closer to a definitive listing. I visited my local hydraulic specialist today and from the conversation it seems the key to supplying non Ferrari hoses is the inside diameter its pressure rating and wether its for oil, petrol/gas, hydraulic fluid and water. They had sample hoses on the counter and many looked identical to the ones in the engine bay !!!It was so frustrating not knowing what to get as I didnt know the pressure rating required.!?!

From the listing below can anyone say if the 'bfh' 'bah' lettering is something to do with the pressure rating?

Hose, radiator, upper, 2 required: #fr106392/94 $69.95 ea
