No, this is not "some copycat thing" It is being put on by Roland Linder, Leslie Howard with quick chick racing, DeShawn Shaw and all of the same supporters from last year along with the same sponsors, with the support of the local Ferrari club.
Yeah, I apologize for that -- I edited it out. But given the date and location and recent threads about the Rampage I was confused and needed it cleared up
Bubba, thanks for making me blushing!! By the Exotico time, I should have both arms in shape and willl give you the ride of your life since we missed each other at the N.O event. Roland F40LM
I'm sorry, I guess I'm bad at the whole "giving credit" thing Yes, Gary is one of the integral organizers, as is Charles. Guess I have problems giving credit to husbands And no, it has nothing to do with my new lofty position.
I'm not usually one to complain but the Scuderia Rampage event last year was not worth the entry fee. In terms of a group gathering it was fun but in terms of what you received for what you paid it left many with a bad taste. Perceived value was not there. I'm always one for a Vegas trip so I would be interested in more details.
I would be the first one to agree with you, as would the other organizers this year. This year will be very different. We have mulitple events planned for each day. It will be well organized and very entertaining. There are a couple of venues we are still trying to nail down, but once everything is in place, we will announce a schedule of events.
Dee - You know I was only kidding, don't you? Because the fact is, you're one of the best people I know at giving credit where it's due.
Even with the small problems, it was still a real cheap way to participate to so many activities at the event..We learn and improve at each time and that's why it takes so much time/ work/people to get an event to get going. You gona like this one! Roland F40LM
Knowing the people who are organizing ExotiCorso '06, I am certain it will be a significant improvement over Rampage '05, in every respect. And I expect it will have the full support of the Desert Region of the FCA, meaning not only the Las Vegas but also the Arizona chapter. I am confident that everyone will feel that they get their money's worth in 2006.
Tillman, This event is not a RAMPAGE EVENT never was or will be affiliated with SCUDERIA RAMPAGE Inc. Event details on the TWO (Yes TWO!!) Scuderia Rampage Events scheduled for 2006 will be announced in December by good ol Santa himself!! And will soon be available at www.ScuderiaRampage.com. Although there are many questions concerning the coincidental nature of the ExotiCorso event, planning and the dates there of, which all match those of the past and future Rampages, Roland, Leslee, Bob, Gary Dee are all great individuals who participated and contributed to the last Rampage event. There involvement in this event confuses me very much, Im saddened that they choose to abandon the Rampage to organize their own event to compete directly with future Rampages. I was looking forward to their contributions and participation however it appears that will not be the case now. I truly wish you all good luck!!
Considering the Scuderia Rampage was a first year event there was great effort into putting a smile on everyones face and we were successful! Here is a look at how the event went in the words of those who were there.. Take a look. For more threads Just do a search in the archives under "Rampage" and you will see that without a doubt it was far from the image your attempting to portay. As I said before GOOD LUCK! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45725&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45405&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51390&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39097&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44321&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56062&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56999&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56997&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46229&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56971&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56767&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57073&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57064&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56456&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45403&highlight=rampage http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55699&highlight=rampage
They often say dissatisfied customers don't say anything. They just don't come back. On one hand The Rampage was a great opportunity to meet people and there was a decent selection of activities. Unfortunately, the perceived value was not there. Every event was either an extra cost (ie. track day) or free. So where did the hundreds of dollars per person go? A couple of simple buffets certainly did not justify the entry fee! One particular member bought an "All access VIP pass" that was even more expensive. Upon questioning what extra benefits it got him the answer he received was "it gets you my sincerest appreciation." That's the kind of thing that leaves a bad taste in someone's mouth. In addition to the posiitve feedback there is also a plethera of negative feedback floating out there that was not voiced. Now you have an issue with competition from another entity which includes Roland Linder. Roland has an excellent reputation and I'm sure a number of people will look forward to participating in his event. The FDC out of Southern California is considering an event in Vegas. With all the interest in Vegas as a venue you have to be able to offer value to insure that people keep coming back. At the end of the day it does not matter if the cost is $200 or $1,000 per person. It has to do with perceived value. No one expects the organizers to do this for free but at the same time no one expects to be taken advantage of either.
Jeffrey - I don't think it's especially fair to include among your criticisms of Rampage '05 that there was any extra fee for the track. The expenses of that element of the event were a significant portion of the total costs, and yet far from all the Rampage participants elected to track their cars. It seems to me to be equitable that the track expenses were passed on to those who used it. And additionally, the fact that there would be an extra track fee (and the amount) was publicized from the start of registration. It isn't as though people showed up in Vegas and were surprised by the charge.
for the record, I had a great time at last years rampage, and look for any excuse to make it out to vegas. I liked the track optional selection because some people fly from across the country without a car to come out, and you cant (legally) track a rental car. However if it was one fixed price I wouldn't mind that either. I dont remember the VIP passs costing anything more, but I had it. For me the $250 entry fee was covered in the fun I had, I didn't itemize my food or anything to see if I got my moneys worth, but thats because honeslty in vegas $250 (I think that was the pp entry fee) is a drop in the bucket. (i mean how many people here weren't laying that down on 1 hand of blackjack at some point in time that weekend? Anyway I think for a first year event it was well planned, with room for improvement. But if you can put a monetary value on fun i had more then my entry fee's worth. Good luck to both parties, I see no reason why I will not be attending both Roalnds and Pimps event this year. Maybe i'll just leave a car out there for both, so i can get some track time logged. Cheers Guys!
Rob, I like your attitude ositive! We all like guys like you and we look forward to see you again with or without a rental " race" car ! Roland F40LM
Thanks Rob for the positive input. Bob has a valid point, the track time will never be included in the entry fee. It's just too darned expensive. It needs to be paid for by the people who actually use it, otherwise it's just not fair. Jeffrey is right though. Yes, we all had a great time, but there should have been more things included in the entry fee. This year, we will be feeding people at least once a day, wether it be a full sit down dinner, or heavy hors d'oeuvres. I am confident, with the things we have scheduled, people will feel like they're getting their money's worth, not only in the great time that they had, but also in actual "what you got for your money"
Keep in mind that the VIP pass was $258 + $155 if you were tracking your car. For a planned three day event thats an incredable deal! I would venture to say many people paid more in gas and to wash their cars then they paid to enter this event. That said... Vegas is a very expensive place to hold any event. The costs associated with putting on an event the scope of the Rampage are very high. For the Rampage to offer what it did for the fee you paid was an incredible deal. For example, what you saved on your hotel, assuming you stayed at the Paris, by reserving your room under the Rampage would have more than paid for your entry fee. Also keep in mind that organizing the event was expensive! Not only were there costs associated with the numerous venues covered by the entry fee, but so were the payments to individuals such as, Roland Linder, Leslee Howard and other employees and contractors of Scuderia Rampage Inc. for all their time and expenses before, during and after the event. Wow! Very disturbing to hear this! The pass your referring to was the MACK DADDY Pass which was designed for volunteers, sponsors and other contributors or special friends who were GIVEN (yes it was free) an additional badge, “Mack Daddy”, which was intentionally designed to make them stand out as a contributor. There were no additional fees, or charges for this pass and no privileges granted. It was a “Thank You Card”. NOTE: There were only two passes available for sale to attendees. One was the VIP pass and the second was the Track Pass. A VIP pass was required to attend the event there was no upgraded pass. This individual could not have bought an upgraded VIP pass as it did not exist. There is a possibility that this individual may have missed the registration deadline and had to pay the additional fee to register on site. If he was on the “Mack Daddy” list he would have also received the “Mack Daddy” pass. This could have lead him to believe he had some type of “upgraded” package which did not exist and if that’s the case it is very unfortunate that he/she didn’t realize that they were being recognized by the Rampage as very special contributor.
It is sad to see two groups organizing Ferrari events for the same weekend in Vegas. I am disappointed that others are trying to cash in on Pimp Daddys success and original event! Yes, the Rampage wasn't perfect and there is always room for improvement. There is always risk in being the first. Money and time was spent hoping the Rampage would be successful. Now that Pimp Daddy was successful, others want to take the fame and money. Hats off to Pimp Daddy for being the first to organize the original Scuderia Rampage.
I'm sure there are a lot of people wondering why there are two similar events planned for the same weekend. Planning for ExotiCorso started the day Rampage ended. ALL of the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters from last year's Rampage are involved with bringing you ExotiCorso. The only person missing is Pimp Daddy. Pimp Daddy had the idea for last year's event, but it took a lot of people to make it actually happen. ALL of those people are involved this year. The organizers wanted to put on a great event with a lot of planning. Rampage was a great event that went very smoothly, considering the planning for it started in January. The planning for ExotiCorso started last April, therefore we are confident that it will be much more organized than last year. As far as two events on the same weekend, the organizers of ExotiCorso had not heard anything from Pimp Daddy since the end of Rampage. Roland Linder attempted to contact Pimp Daddy in August with no response. We did not know he was putting on another event. The first we heard of this was after we made our announcement. I hope this clears up some things. We don't want to start drama, we just want to put on a fun event that can be enjoyed by everyone.
