What if and what would be the outtake of someone putting in about maybe 32 fluid onces of anti freeze in each tire and then airing them up to the correct tire pressure? How would a car handle and would it keep the temperature cooler in summer and maybe prevent flat spots in the cold after extended parking? Has anyone tried it or heard of something like that being done before. What do you think? ;)

Don't they routinely do that to tractor tires?

It would certainly increase unsprung weight. Seems it would increase wear in the center of the tread as well.

Why would it prevent flat spots?

DON'T PUT ANTIFREEZE IN YOUR TIRES! The idea you have is a good one but human urine will work much better than antifreeze, plus it makes a nice suprise for whoever changes your tires :)

I always wanted to know where that smell came from when you let the air out of tires.:)

A friend of mine had a little Toyota truck with shimmy problems. The dealership mechanics replaced the bearings, hubs, and finally the rear axle.

    The problem wasn't fixed!

The thing would wobble like hell going down the road!

    He just lived with it.

Then he went in for new tires and the tire fellow said, "Hey, you know you had about a gallon of water in that tire? It must have wobbled like hell!"

Was thinking it would stop the rubber from reaching freezing temps and keep the temps more stabilized? Just guessing here.

So the antifreeze keeps the rubber warm.....I see......

There are many rubber compounds and only a few are compatible with ethelyne glycol. Give it a try and let us know which list tires go on.

The anti-freeze is designed to lower the tempurature that WATER freezes at. This is done by mixing it WITH the water. It would have virtually no effect on the rubber in cold weather .

Yeah you're right about the cold weather but, I was more or less thinking of the cooling factor by absorbing the heat from the tire and then as the continues to turn, the fluid might have a chance to cool down as it continues to move around inside the tire sort of what happens to clothes in a clothes drying as it tumbles.

The dryer has a vent and a fan, the tire does not. Antifreeze is a transfer agent for heat, by itself it cannot create heat or dispense with it.

    Here's a better idea:

Why not just put a bunch of ice in your tires?

    Perhaps dry ice would work?

    HEY! HOW ABOUT THIS!!!

Put dry ice in your tires, and THEN put a bit of water in them. Take off as fast as you can, and see how far you can get before your tires explode!

THIS COULD BE A NEW SPORT, FOLKS!!

I'm pretty sure that's just done to add weight to help with traction.
